Web Application Developer
InsureMyTrip.com is a well-established and growing e-commerce business and we are actively expanding our Web Development team. We are looking for someone who will be engaged in all aspects of our development process from concept to design to delivery. They will be expected to work on prototypes, new projects, internal tools, and our existing sites. Work on the current site ranges from basic maintenance to adding significant functionality to evolving existing code, all part of an effort to constantly improve our site for users both internal and external. Our work style is open, collaborative, and fast-paced.
We're looking for someone who:
- has passion for creating software
- writes clean, extensible, documented, high-performing code
- has experience working with Object Oriented languages
- has an ability to work in a large existing OO PHP5 codebase
- has experience designing and delivering high performance databases and code to interact with them
- enjoys building data models and system API's used to power a web interface
- knows database optimization techniques
- understands web development best practices
- gets excited about new technology, especially web technology
- enjoys collaborating with a team and has strong interpersonal and communication skills
- and likes developing elegant solutions to complicated problems
You should have 2-4 years working knowledge of (and expert in at least a few of) the following: Linux, MySQL, PHP5, Perl, XML/XSL, and SOAP based web services. A demonstrated proficiency in additional programming languages is a plus. You should have at least a few years of working experience in a professional web or software development environment, using a shared code base with source control.
A bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field is helpful, but more important is applied professional experience – ecommerce development is a plus.
