INSUREMYTRIP.COM PROVIDES CHURCH AND MISSION GROUPS THE TRAVEL INSURANCE PROTECTION THEY NEED

Apr 14th, 2010

WARWICK, RI, April 14, 2010—Charitable relief and assistance groups are often among the first to respond when disaster strikes a community. From hurricanes like Katrina to earthquakes such as the ones in Haiti and Chile earlier this year, to the March floods in New England, the immediate reaction and aid provided by organized church and mission relief workers is critical, and so is protecting these first responders with group travel insurance from InsureMyTrip.com.

“Protecting the organized groups of people dedicated to helping communities in the aftermath of a devastating event or other crisis situation is essential,” explains Jim Grace, President and CEO of InsureMyTrip.com. “Travel insurance can protect a group’s well being with health and medical evacuation coverage and also protect your financial investment from unforeseen cancellations caused by weather, a family emergency, travel supplier default, and more.”

Group coverage is a cost effective choice of protection as groups of ten or more traveling to the same destination are eligible for group pricing. Additionally, group insurance typically provides broader protection and greater flexibility than multiple individual policies. For these reasons especially, most groups choose either a Group Travel Medical Policy or a Group Package Policy for insurance coverage.

Group Travel Medical Policies –Health insurance may not cover your group members in another country and some offer only partial coverage that could leave you liable for a big portion of the bill. Frequently our mission and church groups select Travel Medical Plans, which in addition to comprehensive medical coverage also provide emergency transportation to adequate medical facilities, or even back home.

Group Package Policies – If your group has a financial investment at risk, you might consider a Package Plan. All offer trip cancellation coverage, plus some amount of baggage, medical, dental, emergency evacuation, 24-hour traveler assistance, baggage delay, travel delay, and accidental death coverage. Some policies also have options for collision/damage coverage for rented cars and flight insurance, as well as Cancel For Any Reason riders. These plans can also be used for a variety of trip types, including cruises, group tours, house rentals, and many more.

Powered by our InsureMyGroup engine, InsureMyTrip.com has been helping groups find the right travel insurance since 2002. Our innovative travel insurance engine lets you price and compare group plans in real time, at your convenience. TRAVEL INSURANCE TIPS FOR SKI TRIPS FROM INSUREMYTRIP.COM

Jan 6th, 2010

WARWICK, RI, January 6, 2010—Record snowfalls in parts of North America and Europe have snow bunnies everywhere heading for the slopes. But before you go, protect your ski or snow boarding adventure with travel insurance.

The most important part of planning your ski vacation is preparing for the unexpected. Ask yourself for instance, what happens if:

  • Your equipment is lost, stolen, damaged or delayed en route?
  • You need rental equipment to replace your own damaged or delayed equipment?
  • You don’t have overseas medical coverage?
  • You’re injured and require medical evacuation services?
  • Your trip is cancelled or delayed due to bad weather?

While travel insurance can’t predict or prevent these things from happening to you, it can help when you most need it.

Package Plans: These plans offer the broadest protection, including coverage for trip cancellation, interruption, baggage and travel delay, as well as medical and emergency evacuation. They’re available for either domestic or international travel.

Travel Medical: Providing emergency medical coverage in the event of injury or illness, travel medical insurance policies are the most popular plans purchased by travelers going abroad. These plans also provide emergency medical evacuation coverage for transport to a proper care facility and can be purchased for travel up to a year in length.

Medical Evacuation: This coverage can be purchased as a stand alone policy or it may be included in comprehensive travel policies. It provides evacuation to the nearest appropriate care facility or, in some cases, to your hospital of choice depending on the company and plan.

Equipment coverage: Equipment coverage is only included in a Package Plan. Considered part of the Baggage coverage, it protects you if your ski equipment is lost, stolen or damaged. Some plans also include rental reimbursement should your equipment fall victim to these events.

To learn more about the protection plans that best suit your travel needs, visit InsureMyTrip.com online or call (800) 487-4722 to speak with a licensed travel insurance professional. Whether you simply need one question answered or would like step-by-step assistance selecting a travel insurance policy, InsureMyTrip’s expert Customer Care representatives are waiting for your call Monday through Friday 7 AM to Midnight, Saturday 9 AM to 6 PM and Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM ET.

INSUREMYTRIP.COM: THE DOS AND DON’TS OF BUYING TRAVEL INSURANCE

Dec 2nd, 2009

WARWICK, RI, December 2, 2009—Holidays, school breaks and cabin fever make winter the busiest travel season of the year reports the American Automobile Association (AAA), but it doesn’t have to be stressful.  Travel insurance is the best defense against many of the most common risks affecting travel today and with the right insurance protection, you can enjoy carefree travel year round.

Become an educated travel insurance consumer with the following tips from InsureMyTrip.com, the leading online travel insurance comparison site:

Compare, Compare, Compare: Shop around to get the best plan for your needs at the right price. InsureMyTrip.com offers side-by-side comparisons of policies and prices to help you make smart purchasing decisions quickly and easily.

Plan Ahead: Trip Cancellation Package Policies offer the broadest protection, including coverage for trip cancellation, interruption, baggage and travel delay, as well as medical and emergency evacuation. To receive the most benefit from the travel insurance policy including financial default and terrorism protection as well as coverage for pre-existing medical conditions, the majority of the policies require that you purchase your policy within 10 to 30 days of your First Trip Payment.

Buy From a Third Party: Typically, if you purchase travel insurance directly through a travel supplier such as an airline, cruise line, or tour operator, you cannot protect yourself if that travel supplier goes bankrupt or becomes financially insolvent, so it is always best to purchase your travel insurance protection from a third-party source.

Understand the Details: Travel insurance coverage and premiums vary from policy to policy so it’s important to know exactly how your plan works and the protection it provides. Work with one of our unbiased insurance specialists to help select the right policy for you and review the coverage details together.

Keep Your Receipts: In the event you ever have to file a claim, keep your receipts for everything from pre-paid non-refundable trip costs insured under your policy to doctor’s notes, as well as any receipts incurred from a travel delay such as meals, hotel accommodations, and transportation to/from the airport.

Don’t Forget to Call: Whether you simply need one question answered or would like step-by-step assistance selecting the best travel insurance policy for your needs, InsureMyTrip.com’s expert Customer Care team can help. Visit www.insuremytrip.com or call (800) 487-4722 to speak with a licensed travel insurance representative, Monday through Friday 7 AM to Midnight, Saturday 9 AM to 6 PM and Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM ET.

INSUREMYTRIP.COM’S TOP TRAVEL INSURANCE TIPS FOR HOLIDAY TRAVELERS

Nov 10th, 2009

WARWICK, RI, November 10, 2009—If you’re looking forward to the holidays but not to traveling during the peak storm, flu, and travel season, treat yourself to an early gift and buy travel insurance for peace of mind protection. Travel insurance provides significant coverage for some of the most common travel risks including severe weather, delays and missed connections, sudden illness, and lost baggage.

Purchasing travel insurance protection is important. Selecting the best policy to meet your needs and concerns is critical. Whether you’re a first-time travel insurance consumer or a veteran customer, InsureMyTrip.com, the premier travel insurance comparison site, offers the following guidelines to help you through the buying process.

  1. Know what you most want to protect: From your travel investment to your personal health, travel insurance can provide the coverage you need when you need it most.
  2. Know what you have: Travel insurance protects many things that are not covered by credit cards, homeowner policies, and healthcare plans. Know what you have then research and compare the coverages available with travel insurance at InsureMyTrip.com.
  3. Buy sooner than later: Trip Cancellation Package Policies offer the broadest protection, including coverage for trip cancellation, interruption, baggage and travel delay, as well as medical and emergency evacuation. To receive the most benefit from the travel insurance policy including financial default protection and coverage for pre-existing medical conditions, the majority of the policies require that you purchase your policy within 10 to 30 days of your First Trip Payment.
  4. Protect your baggage: Current data estimates that 30 million bags are mishandled each year as a result of airport congestion, reduced flight availability, and mounting baggage volumes. Remember to protect your bags during the busy travel season.
  5. Take control of your travel: Travel insurance affords many options to help you manage your travels. “Cancel For Any Reason” is one such optional benefit that empowers travelers to cancel trips for any reason of their choosing including schedule conflicts,  bad weather, even fear of contracting the H1N1 influenza virus, up to two days prior to departure. This coverage varies by company and must be purchased within 15 days of your First Trip Payment.

TRAVEL INSURANCE IS BEST PROTECTION AGAINST QUARANTINE SAYS INSUREMYTRIP.COM

Oct 26th, 2009

WARWICK, RI, October 26, 2009—Recent alerts from the Department of State suggest that one of the greatest risks to travelers today may be who you sit next to on the plane. An unhealthy or coughing seatmate could spell delay for you in places like China and Cuba where U.S. travel alerts warn of government-implemented quarantining of arriving passengers who exhibit fever or flu-like symptoms. While enforced quarantine may be unavoidable, losing your travel investment isn’t.

“Quarantined travelers stand to lose a lot unless they’re properly insured,” explains Jim Grace, President and CEO of InsureMyTrip.com. “The time you spend in quarantine means time lost enjoying your trip, unused hotel reservations, missed pre-paid planned activities, and possibly a future one-way ticket home. Travel insurance protects your financial investment so you don’t pay for an itinerary you can’t follow as planned.”

“Quarantine coverage is provided by most insurance companies,” continues Grace, “but it’s important to know the details of your policy as they vary by company and plan. Some companies provide quarantine benefits only if you are sick while others provide benefits if you are not sick but singled out because you were traveling with or near to someone who is ill.”

Trip Cancellation Package Policies offer the broadest protection, including coverage for trip cancellation, interruption, baggage and travel delay, as well as medical and emergency evacuation. In a situation of quarantine, the first coverage activated in these policies is usually travel delay, which provides reimbursement for overnight hotel stays and meals during the quarantine. In the event you are sick however, other components of coverage in the policy are triggered including medical and trip interruption.

“Over the past few months, InsureMyTrip’s Customer Care Center has been inundated with a host of consumer questions about travel insurance coverage for H1N1 influenza including options to cancel trips to areas impacted by the virus before departure,” says Grace. Cancel For Any Reason is the only coverage that enables the traveler to cancel their trip for fear of contracting Swine Flu. This coverage is included in some Package Policies and offered as an optional add-on with others.

Travel insurance can’t prevent things from going wrong, but it can help ease your travel woes and get your journey back on track.Whether you simply need one question answered or would like step-by-step assistance selecting the best travel insurance policy for your needs, InsureMyTrip.com’s expert Customer Care team can help. Visit www.insuremytrip.com or call (800) 487-4722 to speak with a licensed travel insurance representative, Monday through Friday 7 AM to Midnight, Saturday 9 AM to 6 PM and Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM ET.

TRAVEL INSURANCE IS PREREQUISITE FOR STUDENTS TRAVELING ABROAD SAYS INSUREMYTRIP.COM

Sep 15th, 2009

WARWICK, RI, September 15, 2009—As growing numbers of students plan to spend academic semesters abroad, more and more parents are taking precautions to protect them while they’re away from home. With the H1N1 Swine Flu pandemic dominating headlines, student health and well being are priority one.

“Travel insurance is a ‘must have’ for students spending time abroad because it provides coverage where many traditional healthcare plans leave off,” explains Jim Grace, President and CEO of InsureMyTrip.com. “Many national healthcare plans provide only partial coverage for their members when they travel outside the U.S., and some don’t provide any coverage at all. Parents and students should check with their healthcare provider before venturing outside the U.S. to learn exactly how their policy will respond in the event of a medical emergency.” If additional coverage is needed, InsureMyTrip.com recommends travel medical, medical evacuation and/or cancel for any reason protection:

Travel Medical: Providing emergency medical coverage in the event of injury or illness, travel medical insurance policies are the most popular plans purchased for students going abroad.

Cancel For Any Reason: A prudent selection for those seeking to protect their trip investment, this coverage provides protection if you elect to cancel your study abroad trip before embarking. Some plans include this coverage and others offer it as an optional add-on. Canceling a trip due to fear of contracting Swine Flu, would ONLY be covered if you have Cancel for Any Reason coverage (CFAR). CFAR will allow you to:

  • Cancel up until 2 days prior to departure.
  • You may receive between 50%-100% reimbursed trip cost (varies by company).
  • Policy must be purchased within 10-21 days (varies by company) of your first trip payment or deposit to qualify for this coverage.

“For a small fraction of the trip cost, travel insurance provides real protection to students overseas and priceless peace of mind to their parents at home,” says Grace. Whether you simply need one questioned answered or would like step-by-step assistance selecting the best travel insurance policy for your needs, InsureMyTrip.com’s expert Customer Care team can help. Visit www.insuremytrip.com or call (800) 487-4722 to speak with one of 15 licensed travel insurance representatives, Monday through Friday 7 AM to Midnight, Saturday 9 AM to 6 PM and Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM ET.

TOP TEN NEED-TO-KNOW TRAVEL INSURANCE TERMS FROM INSUREMYTRIP.COM

Aug 19th, 2009

WARWICK, RI, August 19, 2009—For many people, insurance can seem like a foreign language that only those fluent in ‘insurance speak’ can understand. To master the art of insurance appreciation however, you don’t need instruction from RosettaStone or Berlitz, just a little help from InsureMyTrip.com.

“Travel insurance like all insurance is complex,” explains Jim Grace President and CEO of InsureMyTrip.com, “but a fundamental understanding of industry terms and phrases that commonly cause confusion, can clear up some of the mystery.  At InsureMyTrip.com, one of our key goals is to help travelers understand travel insurance, and that means starting with the basics.” These are the top ten travel insurance terms that every consumer should know as they prepare to purchase trip protection for their upcoming travels:

  1. A.M. Best Ratings— Industry watchdog A.M. Best rates and assesses insurance companies’ financial strength and ability to meet their obligations to policyholders. InsureMyTrip.com features a user-friendly monitoring tool for consumers to check the A.M. Best Ratings of all the leading U.S. travel insurance companies before you purchase coverage.
  2. Unforeseen– means not anticipated or expected and occurring after the effective date of the policy.
  3. Primary—This section of the policy will pay FIRST, before any other collectible insurance.
  4. Secondary—This section of the policy will pay you after any other Primary collectible insurance has paid the claim and the Primary policies’ limits have been exhausted.
  5. First Trip Payment Date–This is the date that money first exchanged hands for the trip you want to insure. This is the date the check is written, not the date it is cashed.
  6. Pre-existing Medical Condition Waiver—Many policies have a pre-existing medical exclusion, meaning that coverage is not available for pre-existing medical conditions. A Pre-existing Medical Condition Waiver essentially deletes that exclusion and extends your policy to cover pre-existing condition-related risks. To be eligible for a Pre-Existing Medical Condition Waiver, the majority of travel insurance policies require that you purchase your policy within 10 to 21 days of your first trip payment date and insure for the full amount of your non-refundable travel arrangements.
  7. Look Back Period– This is the number of days that the insurance company will ‘look back’ from the date the insurance was purchased to see if your claim is related to a pre-existing medical condition. The Look Back Period varies by company and plan and does not apply if you qualified for the Pre-existing Medical Condition Waiver offered by many plans.
  8. Cancel For Any Reason–This is an optional benefit that empowers travelers to cancel trips for any reason including sudden unemployment, schedule conflicts, even bad weather, up to two days prior to departure. Cancel For Any Reason policies vary by company and must be purchased within 10-21 days of your first trip payment date.
  9. Financial Default– This is a benefit that is part of Trip Cancellation/Interruption coverage. This protection applies if the airline, cruise line, or tour operator goes out of business and you are unable to travel as a result or suffer financial loss. Since this coverage is time sensitive, you must purchase a policy within 10 – 21 days (varies by company) of your first trip payment date. All of the plans that contain this benefit have a 7-30 day waiting period from the time of purchase before becoming effective. Typically, if you purchase travel insurance directly through a travel supplier such as an airline, cruise line, or tour operator, you cannot protect yourself should that travel supplier go bankrupt or become financially insolvent, so it is always best to purchase your travel insurance protection from a third-party source.
  10. Travel agent vs. Tour Operator–A Travel Agent is someone who books flights, cruises and tours. A Tour Operator is a company which specializes in the organizing and operation of pre-planned vacations which are usually sold to the public through travel agents.

NEW DATA FROM PREMIER TRAVEL INSURANCE COMPARISON SITE INSUREMYTRIP.COM SHOWS CONSERVATIVE TRAVEL IS THE NEW NORMAL

Jun 30th, 2009

WARWICK, RI, June 30, 2009—Travel consumers have become conservative consumers reports InsureMyTrip.com, the leading online travel insurance comparison site. Citing data from a Q1 ’08 vs. Q1 ’09 sales analysis, the travel insurance aggregator notes several new statistics that indicate travelers are taking a more measured, thoughtful approach to travel planning.

The data clearly points to:

  • Shorter vacations: While all travel is down in 2009, extended holidays of two to four weeks saw the largest decline at nearly 15%.
  • Cost-conscious travel: The number of trips costing more than $2,000 fell by 25%. Overall, average trip costs decreased 12%.
  • Compressed planning: Travel insurance consumers are purchasing coverage closer to their departure date. On average, insurance is now purchased 62 days before departure, a decrease of 11%.
  • Longer stays, more protection:  In a separate InsureMyTrip survey, customers noted insuring 68% of trips lasting eight days or more, whereas 30% of week-long trips and just 18% of weekend trips were protected.

“Given the tough economic climate, it stands to reason that travelers are taking more precautionary measures,” notes Jim Grace, President and CEO of InsureMyTrip.com. “Money is tight for a lot of people right now and job security is a concern for some. Taking less costly, shorter vacations, holding out for super-saver deals, and making sure that any travels are protected with travel insurance, are practical strategies for dealing with the new ‘normal’ of travel today.  We are encouraged to see that people are in fact getting back to traveling and that travel insurance is now a ‘must have’.”

One of the best and easiest ways to ‘save’ money on travel is to protect your trips with travel insurance. “Start by shopping around,” advises Grace. Everyone’s travel needs are different, but InsureMyTrip.com offers all the leading U.S. travel insurance companies on one site so you can do side-by-side comparisons of policies and prices quickly and easily. “Travel insurance is your best defense against many of the most common risks affecting travel today,” adds Grace, “and the wide variety of available plan choices enables you to select the plan that best fits your budget and travel needs.”
