This was a claim for foreign medical expenses; not a big claim, under $100. The insurer wanted incredible documentation (I had everything), but after a considerable delay demanded that I get denials from my domestic health insurance. I complained to InsureMyTrip and apparently this helped. Insurers certainly know that Medicare and other domestic insurance companies do not cover non-emergency care abroad. This was a delaying tactic that has no justification. Eventual payment was in full, but took over 60 days.

We always use this company when we travel. so far so good that we never needed to use the coverage. We will continue to use your company when we travel. It gives us good luck

I've been using InsureMyTrip for all my trips since about 2003, when I first discovered them. This is a lot of trips since I usually take 3 a year! It was the best find I ever made!

My above responses notwithstanding, I was subject to a "mustard attack" in Buenos Aires. We were walking just the one block from the Sheraton Convention Center Hotel to the airport bus terminal. I was splattered about two dozen times with a goo that hit my trousers, shirt, two suitcases, a shoulder bag and a coat slung over my arm. Had to change clothes in bus station bathroom. I threw away my trousers, shirt and coat. I was familiar with the scam and fortunately was not relieved of any possessions other than the discarded clothing.

We have bought travel insurance several times through InsureMyTrip. Every time it has been easy to locate the best plan (one that provides a waiver for pre-existing conditions) and to buy it. The personnel contacted by phone have always been helpful. It seems to be getting more expensive, but then we are getting older. Fortunately I have never had to file a claim. In this I seem to resemble almost all the folks who post reviews. Last time I looked through 600-some reviews to find a person who had had claim experience. I think I found two -- and one was negative and the other positive. Would like to see more comments from people who have filed claims. The only other criticism I have of the plans is that they seem to be targeted to people who prepay a fixed cost for a trip -- like for a cruise, and not for people who pay as they go and perhaps only have pre-paid costs for air tickets and hotels (although we did have prepaid private tour costs for this last trip, to Patagonia). The only reason we usually get travel insurance is for the medical provisions, since Medicare doesn't cover problems outside the US, and we would want to be flown home if any problem occurred.
