I find it very difficult to review the quality of coverage because, I am happy to say, nothing occurred to me and I did not have to make any claims against the Policy. Travel insurance is expensive - I chose coverage that I believed would be adequate and then chose the least costly plan I could find. Your site provides comparison of cost which is very helpful. What I can't tell unless I make a claim, is how the various companies might compare in service when claims are made.

I want to clarify that my satisfaction was with the comfort of knowing that I was covered and that I believed the coverage to be good and appropriate to my needs. The real test will come when I have to file a claim. At that time, I will be able to access the type of service provided and whether the coverage is as expected.

We travel to visit family, don't travel with valuable luggage, and our regular medical insurance covers us in Australia. What we need is a basic plan that covers trip cancellation, and emergency cover. Basically we have to buy way more insurance than we need to get this cover. It is impossible to rate an insurance plan unless you have the need to use it, which we haven't as yet. My past two experiences with making claims - once about 20 years ago for myself, and once about 10 years ago when my parents needed to make a claim - don't inspire much confidence in the insurance industry. The first claim never got settled, and the second one only got settled after 12 months of calls and letters when my parents discovered that they know someone on the board of the organization that they had gotten the insurance through. This friend called the organizations attorney who called the insurance company who finally paid up. Both cases were legitimate claims.
