The plan seems to be good protection during some travel - especially international. We never needed the insurance (thankfully) so I cannot comment on the efficiency/responsiveness of the company.

Luckily, we did not have to utilize our insurance plan, however the peace of mind the plan provides is certainly worth the cost. As to tips, do not wear expensive jewelry when traveling, especially in locations such as Naples. A friendly guide warned my wife that her rings were "too big" and she turned them inward in locations such as train stations, etc. My wife also carried a travel pouch that had a wire through the strap to prevent "cut and runs" and wore the pouch strap across her chest to prevent it being pulled off. Also, when traveling to Europe, take a few hundred in Euro's with you. we planned on using the ATM's during our trip, which worked great except at the airport in Rome. We tried several machines and wound up at the currency exchange to get cab fare. Italy is a fantastic destination. No hassles, great people, and breathtaking art and architecture!

Glad I didn't have to file a claim. Therefore I can't fully assess the policy.

In promotional material there was a reference to a
discount for foreign exchange at AMEX booths in
Airports but no one knew anything about it.

I have been an AMEX cardholder since 1965--47 years. When and if I hit 50 years I think I should
get a discount on such programs.

I first encountered this policy on "InsureMyTrip". I lost the internet address so I contacted American Express Travel Insurance directly. They quoted a much higher price and said it wasn't available in Pennsylvania.So I booked this through "InsureMyTrip".
