I suffered a ruptured Achilles while on vacation in St Lucia Dec 2011. As a result I was forced to cancel the May trip to Cozumel that was planned for myself and my wife. MH Ross was very helpful in filing the claim and timely in the refund. I would buy the protection again.
Though this was a true medical necessity I always purchase the cancel for any reason plan as a precaution against the unexpected in life

It was unclear that one has to insure ALL parts of the vacation, even the reusable parts of airline tickets, if one wants cancellation for any reason. We purchased cancel for any reason - very expensive - to avoid loss when canceling a vacation when we feel ill. Perhaps this was overkill. I am still unclear what would be covered if one selected the much less expensive cancellation for illness, which should be more appropriate for us. As senior citizens since we recover from illnesses slower than younger people we cancel trips when less ill than when we were younger, since we would not enjoy the vacation if sick even if we could stagger on to the plane. Its unclear what evidence they would require to refund expenses. Fortunately for this vacation we were healthy.
