My wife, daughter and I were stranded in Wash,DC by a missed connection on our return @ 5:00PM, 1/1/13. After being told that there was no flight available until 8:30 AM on 1/2/13, and receiving no help from United Airlines, I called your 800 number at about 6:00PM. I had questions as to what expenses might be covered, due to the 15 1/2 hour delay. I was informed by your male agent that due to the holiday, the claims department was closed and I should call back 1/2/13. To make a loooong story short, we spent a miserable, cold night laying on hard seats at the airport. For the total cost of $261.00 I paid for the 2 policies, I could have taken a taxi to the Phila. airport. I spoke to your agent (Believe it was Paul) on 1/4/13 and he said your would have probably covered expenses for a hotel, meal, etc, if we had incurred them. I wish your first agent had told me this as laying on a bench at our age was not exactly a pleasure. Although this plan is excellent, your service was lacking and I believe at least a partial refund may be due.

To be honest, since I did not have an opportunity to file a claim, I am still somewhat at a loss for knowing whether or not Travel Guard Gold plan was a worthwhile investment at all. Of course, the best case scenario is never needing to use the insurance one purchases. However, I really can't give you much feedback on your product, other than the website and the actual purchasing experiences, which was fine. The listing of benefit levels for the different insurance types offered was helpful.

Always have trip insurance since my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer several years back. We were never sure how she was going to hold up while we were away on vacation so having the insurance gave us peace of mind knowing we could come back if something had happened. Also used it several times for my daughter's sudden pop up strept throat occurrences where no American insurance was accepted. We paid up front and were always reimbursed upon our return. And when my father had an emergency gall bladder operation 4 days before leaving on one trip, his cost was totally reimbursed! Never ever will travel without!

This plan was purchased for a lengthy ocean trip. Full travel insurance would have been prohibitively expensive, we had allowed for delays and were willing to risk known costs such as lost luggage. This plan provided catastrophic coverage for possible accidents and evacuation from the ship, at an affordable price, and the terms were much more satisfactory than a similar policy we had purchased for a different trip a couple of years ago. This was exactly what we needed.
