Our first flight (of 2) was canceled due to mechanical problems. It was a problem securing another flight to connect to FL from up north over President's week. After about a 1/2 hour of trying the agent finally worked some magic and booked us on a partner airline's flight to Atlanta, had us stay there in an airport hotel overnight, then continue on to FL very early the following morning. We were able to reach FL by 9:25AM with plenty of time to board our cruise ship. But, it was touch and go for a while at the airport. We were glad to have purchased the insurance - just in case... it gave us peace of mind.

Mark would recommend this plan to a friend or relative.
I believe the best insurance is good planning, but travel insurance is necessary for circumstances beyond our control. Frankly, I try not to be exposed to those circumstances, but spending a few hundred dollars to insure a vacation that cost several thousand dollars just makes good sense.
