I think "Medevac" insurance is one of the best trip insurance plays you can make.....especially when a long way from home or out of the country.

I recommend it to all my friends who are traveling out of the country. If you're seriously injured a long way from home, the last thing in the world you want is to be stranded for financial reasons.

Granted, it's one of those ironies of life: it's a policy that you purchase, praying fervently that you'll never need to find out how well it works!

For older world travelers, this is a perfect plan because it includes $50,000 emergency medical coverage as well as evacuation back home. Lets face it, any injury or illness on vacation IS an emergency.
In addition, this plan was cheaper through InsureMyTrip than directly with the insurer!

Although I haven't read the fine print, I guess the coverage would have been OK, but in any event I didn't need to find out because, in spite of two delayed flights and missed connections going out, I managed to get to my destination close to the estimated ETA and on the trip back my luggage arrived two days later at home.
