A Pre-Existing Medical Condition is a sickness or injury that has not been stable either prior to your departure date or policy effective date. A 'stable' condition is generally defined as follows:
Any medical condition or related condition for which there has been: no new treatment, new medical management, or new prescribed medication; and no change in treatment, change in medical management, or change in medication; and no new symptom or finding, more frequent symptom or finding, or more severe symptom or finding experienced; and no new test results or test results showing a deterioration; and no investigations or future investigations initiated, or recommended for your symptoms; and no hospitalization or referral to a specialist (made or recommended).
If you, a traveling companion, or a family member have a Pre-Existing Medical condition that could potentially put you at risk for canceling your trip or could cause you to seek medical attention while traveling, you should review the details of any travel insurance policy carefully to understand what coverage may be available to you.
Some plans offer a waiver of the Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion, as long as you meet the requirements stated in the plan details. Please read your specific Certificate of Coverage prior to purchase.
