The main purpose of having the travel insurance was the field of security since many of the side trips were in our own planning. I will have insurance in my future trips.

I always buy for foreign travel as I have no health coverage out of the country, but have never made a claim. Also the car rental company was very emphatic that they would not accept this coverage for the rental in any way.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. Unfortunately, not all rental car companies accept third party collision damage waiver. If rental car coverage is a primary concern for travelers, we advise them to contact the rental company first to see if they accept third party insurance.

HCC Medical Insurance Services Atlas International
As a former health and life insurance broker for 10 years I knew what types of travel plans to look at when I chose to quit my job and travel. I have purchased various travel plans over the years and since I quit to travel nearly consistently 3+years ago I continue to go back to the top carriers that I am familiar with. Each year I either purchase HCC or IMG since I know they are strong, reputable companies that PAY THEIR CLAIMS. As an agent I spoke to many happy clients that not only purchased travel coverage from these companies but also had to use them. Although medical care is drastically cheaper in countries outside of the US, I still chose to purchase a 1 million benefit and just raise the deductible ($500-1k) to lower the cost as I would recommend for anyone that is more concerned with asset protection. This year I have some diving and climbing plans so I chose HCC since my plans fit within their Exclusions and Limitations and I did not need to spend the extra for the Adventure/Sports rider with IMG.

Didn't need it, but seemed to cover what I needed and wasn't insanely expensive.

Though I never had to use it I was glad to have the back up. It gave me some peace of mind.

Thank goodness I didn't have an illness, but always buy insurance when I travel outside this country as Medicare does not pay then.

The only problem with this plan was I was told I would be mailed the information as my computer printer was not working, but was sent all information on email. Assume nobody read I was to be mailed information.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. The policy notes show that a hard copy of the plan was supposed to be mailed to you. We have notified the provider that the transmission of the postal option failed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
I recommend to everyone who suffers from pre-existing medical conditions to insure their trip, with Nationwide or other insurance providers that offer a pre-existing medical condition waiver. The unpredictability of a medical emergency is what prompted me to get the insurance. I'm grateful I did not have to use it, but had peace of mind knowing that I could if I had to.

No medical issues. Don't know what issues I would have encountered if I needed to use the plan but this was a reassuring backup just in case.

Since we are both seniors and this was our first cruise, we wanted protection since at our age anything can happen. The cost of the protection was worth the peace of mind. I am glad we did not need to file a claim.
