We traveled from BWI to Jamaica 3/7 - 3/13 and did arrive home to a predicted snow/ice storm, which thankfully, didn't affect our travel. It was good to know that I had this travel insurance just in case!

I am an expatriate from Canada who is living in the U.S. on a work visa. I was travelling to Jamaica and needed to get some health insurance that would cover me. The cost of this week's insurance is more than I pay for a year of better coverage when leaving Canada and it was not quite absolutely reassuring that this plan would for sure cover me if something did happen.

With regards to your concern about the Travel Select coverage, the InsureMyTrip.com website allows you to compare the benefits, coverages, and rates of the insurance plans offered.
The Travel Select protection plan that you choose is not health insurance, but rather travel protection that provides coverage for Trip Cancellation (Trip Cost was insured) , Trip Interruption, Trip Delay, Baggage/Baggage Delay and more.
The Travel Select Description of Coverage is available, on the InsureMyTrip.com website, to view, prior to purchasing. It was also emailed to you, along with the Confirmation of Coverage, at the time of purchase on February 4, 2017 at 12:35am. The Description of Coverage is a summary of the plan details, which includes the benefits, coverages, limitations, and exclusions.

I would recommend Insuremytrip as a great place to compare and purchase plans. I think there is no way to evaluate the coverage until you actually have to file a claim. Then the level of cooperation, responsiveness and ease of process is what matters.... Fortunately I can't answer any of these questions.

The only way to evaluate the value of an insurance policy is by assessing its claim handling process.
Since we did not file a claim, I cannot evaluate how good is the insurance product. The best evaluation should come from those who filed claims.

Fortunately, I did not have to use my insurance plan on my cruise. Unfortunately, two of my traveling companions had to use their insurance plans which were not AIG. Their plans did not have the complete AIG coverage, yet the cost was about the same. The next time we travel, I will use AIG again and I have recommended the AIG travel plan to my colleagues.

I ended up using my travel insurance due to Hurricane Matthew. I submitted the required paperwork via fax and they kept constantly in contact via email. They managed to get 2 different airlines to refund back my tickets after they denied my request They refunded my room and airport transfers via check. I received a check and refund to my credit card statements within 3 weeks and 2 one of those weeks were due to the airlines dragging their feet to respond. Very smooth process and I will select Travel Insured every single time I travel.
