I didn't need to use the plan since fortunately, all went well during our travels. It was reassuring to know we had the plan just in case. It is a shame that if you are older you have to pay considerably more for a plan. I'd love to be able to pay less for a basic plan instead of $1000.

I travel a lot and have always purchased a trip insurance whether traveling in US or international The most important reason is to get a medical/dental coverages. On all the plans I bought in the past many years, the dental was always part of the medical coverage. During my recent trip to Europe a month ago, I lost 2 teeth on my upper dentures. When I called IMG, I found out that the plan I bought, which was recommended by "Insure my Trip", had no dental coverage. For this reason I will not buy a trip insurance from IMG anymore. Also, this would have been the first time, after so many years of purchasing a trip insurance, that I would be submitting a claim. I'm totally disappointed.

The AIG Travel Guard Gold plan is the one I always use when I travel overseas. The insurance coverage a person has with any of the national companies does not work overseas, so travelers need to be aware of that. If anything occurs medically, and you need to be hospitalized or evacuated, AIG Travel Guard Gold Plan takes care of you and covers the cost. Hopefully, nothing will happen, but accidents do occur. With AIG Travel Guard Gold Plan I feel I am prepared so I can enjoy my time away!

Bought the travel policy through insure my trip because they can find a policy I want at a better price than I can find at the big name companies I know and especially better than what was offered from Monograms - Globus which arranged my trip.
That said, fortunately I had no need to make a claim, all was well on the trip so I can only hope if I did need to it would be what I expected.

We were very relieved that we had this policy to cover our trip to Europe in April, 2019. Last July, my husband was diagnosed with cancer. For several months we were not sure if we could make the trip. It was very reassuring that we could cancel the trip and that our expenses would be covered.

When traveling abroad, it is essential to have insurance for medical expenses or medical evacuation, which are not covered by Medicare and most health insurance. On a trip to Turkey, a woman in our group had appendicitis. She did not have travel insurance. She had only Medicare and a secondary health insurance plan, neither of which covered any expenses outside the U.S. She could not afford to pay for an air ambulance to have surgery back in the U.S. So she had surgery in Istanbul. Her adult daughter stayed with her, and paid out of pocket hotel room and restaurant meals while her mother was in the hospital. They had to pay up front for her medical care and hospitalization. Presumably they had to pay a high airfare home when she was well enough to travel. I always buy travel insurance. My credit card (co-branded with an airline's frequent flyer program) covers trip cancellation and interruption when I charge flights, hotels, cruises, etc. to that card (even if it's a different airline). However, that credit card does not cover medical treatments, hospitalization, or evacuation to the U.S. in case of illness or accident. This AIG Travel Guard MedEvac Plan is very reasonably priced and covers that gap including expenses for a traveling companion. Thankfully my companion and I have not needed medical treatment while traveling, but having this coverage gives us peace of mind.

"The Patriot International plan does indeed have dental coverage. The coverage is for the treatment of unexpected pain to natural sound teeth. As the insured indicated in her review, she lost 2 teeth from her upper dentures. This would not be covered."
