This was our first time purchasing this type of separate trip coverage, but because we knew we would not only be in high altitude conditions, but in more rural areas where medical care is limited (and we might need to be flown out for care), we decided the peace of mind was worth it. Fortunately, we didn't need any of the coverage, and the trip went off without a hitch. We have purchased the same plan for our next trip in the Spring, once again because of the peace of mind it brings when traveling in areas where medical coverage may be somewhat limited.

When the trip was cancelled by the tour Co. we got no $ back except from the tour Co. InsureAssist should have covered some of the cost or made sure we understood that in this case no $ would be refunded.

Thank you for your review and feedback. We contacted InsureAssist on your behalf earlier this year. They explained to us that since the tour operator cancelled the trip, they would be responsible to reimburse you any fees incurred, and that unfortunately, this is not a covered event. Travel Guard Basic
I have used TravelGuard before but luckily have not had to use it. First trip I got labels to apply to valuables (camera, iPod, etc) but did not this time. Maybe it is good not to have those as if someone wants to steal them, they know you are covered & will get compensation. I will use Travel Guard again whenever I travel Internationally.
