The visits to Machu Picchu in Peru and Galapagos in Equador included very strenuous climbs and decents at high altitudes and trecks over 1000s of yards of broken lava trails that were very dangerous walking for the many senior citizens on several visits...No one was injured thankfully including us but treatment and extraction would have been difficult and expensive if serious bodily harm had occurred.

I, fortunately, didn't need to use the insurance on this trip, so I don't know how effective it would have been if I had to submit a claim, which is the really true test...coverage seemed good for the price

We just returned from a trip to Peru. One night we were at dinner with 2 other couples on the trip. They had never heard of your website. I told them how easy it is, etc. - also they will get much more competitive rates than purchasing through the travel company. So I think you will be hearing from these people.

I worked with the very helpful customer service agents at InsureMyTrip.com for my last 2 trips and interestingly for both times, the plan best suited for me turned out to be InsureAssist TravCan Premier. I have not had to make any claims yet.

Our two week trip to Peru and Ecuador was a lifetime dream come true. Since we suffered no untoward events, I can't really comment on what might have happened if we needed to file a claim or ask for help. We felt assured purchasing insurance from a known world wide company like American Express. I would have preferred more clarity from the company on what exactly to do or who to call in case of an international problem. When I called customer assistance at American Express before our trip commenced, I was on hold for about fifteen minutes before being able to talk to someone directly. That would not have been a good thing if we were calling for help from South America.

All items, and a few extra were covered. So I guess bottom line they did their job. However, it took them a long time, and I had to keep calling them. I wonder how long it would have taken if I wasn't continually checking. I would call and they would say they would get back to me in 24 hours...a week later I would call and get the same response. My adult son,who went along on our trip and had his own insurance turned in a claim to another insurer for the same trip and expenses, filed his claim and had a check in 7 days!! Ours took 6 weeks.

The peace of mind that this insurance gave me was worth the nominal fee. Happily I survived the Amazon rain forest and the Inka Trail without needing to use the policy. Knowing that it was available allowed me to concentrate on having fun!
