Our trip to southeast Asia was planned to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Just weeks before we were scheduled to depart, my wife developed a bacterial infection in her left knee which required surgery. We have purchased travel insurance for years, primarily because my mother is 92 years old. We never thought we would have to cancel a trip because something happened to us. We filed our claim with all the required documentation, and in less than three weeks the claim was paid. We are now looking forward to rebooking the same trip next year. If anyone is skeptical about the need for travel insurance, our experience should erase any doubt. We invested hundreds for protection and saved ourselves tens of thousands of dollars.

This is a very basic plan that offers limited coverage for a reasonable price. Many companies offer a lot more coverage, but a far greater price. It was easy to compare costs and coverage.
