Generali Global Assistance Preferred
Generali is only good at one thing: collecting your premiums. God helps you if you need to file a claim, as I did. I had a very straightforward $720 claim (caused by a 24 flight delay at the end of a trip), and for the last 4 weeks I have not even been able to have Generali to put my claim into their system (which I initially did by email, as they recommend); given their inaction, I decided to call in, and after much effort and wait-time to get a live person, the customer rep I talked said that she was going to make sure that my claim was entered in their system, and it is still not done 2 weeks later; so I went on their web site and did it again myself. And so after hours of effort, over a month, I am still at square one: my claim has "just been filed". After such a start I can't wait to see how many more hrs of my time and months it is going to take to get my claim processed and paid. And that's a SUPER SIMPLE one. How lame.

Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection ExactCare Value
Berkshire refused to pay for airline tickets due to the airline going bankrupt. They stated that the credit card company should pay although the CC company said the loss occurred too long ago to cover. This was complicated by Covid. Beware of airline coverage!

Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection ExactCare Value
During Covid one never knew if flights etc would go as plan, plus I was literally in the Bush of Africa with no health care unless air lifted out. Fortunately I did not need any thing. Knowing I was covered was a relief.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector
Very disappointing coverage. 1. We missed our connection due to British Air and had to spend the night in Johanesburg, rather than Victoria Falls. British air put us up in a moderate airport hotel, nothing like the 5* hotel we paid for. Even though the policy had "trip interruption coverage" CF said it did not apply to the cost of the hotel we paid for but could not occupy in Victoria Falls, BECAUSE OUR TRIP WAS INTERRUPTED, since we were covered by British Air putting us up in Johanesburg. (HUH? was my response) 2. On my return, my bags arrived in NY 2 days late, but Baggage Delay coverage did not apply since I was already home (even though I live in Florida, not NY, and my winter coat was in my DELAYED baggage.) True to form, when dealing with insurance companies, excuses, not reasons, apply when attempting to get reimbursed for coverage paid for.

My trip was delayed and ultimately interrupted due to bad weather that cancelled my flight to a connecting city. I lost three trip days because of this situation. I had never experienced missing a flight and was concerned that the insurance company would look for an excuse not to reimburse me for my losses. I am happy to report that my fears were unnecessary. Travelex reimbursed me for all my requested expenses. This is the second time I have used this company and the first time I have had to make a claim. My advice to travelers who experience similar circumstances would be to keep all receipts of extra expenses. In addition, get written proof from the airline regarding the reason for the delayed or cancelled flight that caused interruption of your trip.

Of course since we are not planning to file a claim we can't test it to see how good it really is - but barring that - our policy covered what we wanted it to at a far more reasonable price than the insurance company recommended by our travel packager proposed.

Help from the customer service team was always thorough and patient while choosing my coverage and clarifying what was specifically covered. I thought the price was good, considering I chose the highest level of coverage. Throughout my trip I felt confident that if something was lost or stolen, I'd gotten hurt, etc it would have been covered. Overall, a good experience with my RoamRight plan and InsureMyTrip.
