I did have to call once before my trip to inquire as to coverage in the event of an impending death in my family. The representative that I spoke with was nice but did not sound very confident in her explanation of coverage. Just something to work on.

I would never use this company again! We were given incorrect information 2 out of the 3 times we called. Just shy of 48 of our departure our destination was placed under a tropical storm warning. We called to see what our options were. We were told by not just one, but two employees that we could cancel our trip under the "any reason" clause even though we were slightly under the 48 hour deadline. We questioned this multiple times because we were technically less than 48 hours before our flight. We were assured that the claims department would be understanding of the inclement weather since it was a named tropical storm and would be entitled to 75% refund of all non-refundable monies paid. We were told that as long as we cancelled that evening we would still be allowed to cancel. We decided not to take chances with the bad weather and chose to cancel our trip. When we called back for the 3rd time, we were told that if we were to cancel we would not received any of our money back because we were under the 48 hour mark. This employee identified herself as a supervisor and said that the other two employees had given us incorrect information. If we had not called that 3rd time we would have missed our whole trip and wouldn't have been refunded a penny. There were other discrepancies in the several conversations my husband and I had with the employees that I won't waste time detailing, but there were also significant errors. Luckily, we went on our trip and everything was fantastic - the storm turned and weather was great. However, if we had trusted the employees working for this company we would have been out of about $6,000.00. I would never recommend this company to anyone. As a customer we relied on them to give us correct information so we could make informed decisions. This situation could have ended very badly.

We decided to get insurance coverage because 2 of our friends had major medical problems while traveling overseas. Another friend had to cancel his trip at the advice of his doctor due to health reasons.. InsureMyTrip customer service representatives recommend insurance coverage based on the travelers' needs and are not selling coverage for one company. InsureMyTrip is based in the United States, and it was nice to have clear communication with the customer service representatives. We've already bought another insurance policy from InsureMyTrip for our next trip.

I really like the option of the higher travel insurance premium that includes Cancel for any Reason Coverage and Rental Car Coverage. It eliminates the need for adding the Loss Damage Waiver Coverage at the rental car company. This provides a savings that covers the increased cost of the travel insurance premium!

Seven Corners

How good is Seven Corners? For me, it's excellent. While pressing the right buttons on the website and selecting a company and policy that fits you is important, filing a claim is what really counts. My wife and I are retired and take three to four big trips annually and always get insurance. In the summer of 2014, we planned a ten day trip to Maui, a Caribbean cruise for the fall and a month in Maui in Jan-Feb. We then lived everyone's nightmare. On Sept 18th of 2014, our 38 year old daughter, who is a single parent that lives near us, was diagnosed with breast cancer. We knew all trips were off and our role as a parent and grandparent was greatly expanded. I filled out the all the Seven Corners paperwork with the doctors statement, visa statement, airline statements and turned in the first claim. It's important when filing a claim to think of the person who will handle it for Seven Corners. Unfortunately, there are dishonest people out there who will try to commit insurance fraud. Thus I knew I needed to be complete. Within a few weeks I received a check for all of my losses. Not having to fight with an insurance company was great, I don't know if I would have had the energy.

We are sorry to hear that your family member is seriously ill. However, the AIG Travel Guard Basic Plan provides Trip Cancellation coverage for the unforeseen Sickness, Injury or death of an Insured, Family Member, Traveling Companion subject to the pre-existing conditions exclusion as defined in the policy. The exclusion does not apply to death.
