Our trip was delayed due to a blizzard and so we had to leave about 5 days later than planned. The insurance company covered the one night that the hotel charged us extra for, without any problem. We always go through Travel Guard Insurance because it is easy and they have always been very helpful. You should know, however, that if you book a "new trip" with new dates when your original trip is "cancelled," you have to purchase a new policy. It is not any longer part of the old policy.
