I think this insurance is essential when you travel, either domestically or internationally. Adds peace of mind in case anything goes awry.

I didn't need to use it, but was glad to have it just in case! I know someone who contracted Dengue Fever the day I left Thailand (which means a week in the hospital)... so you never know!

Although we didn't need to use our insurance we felt safer having it in place. We were able to relax and enjoy the other side of the world!

Allianz Global Assistance Deluxe
Please read this review...it could save you tens of thousands of dollars. Each time my son has traveled internationally I've asked myself, 'Do I really need to buy travel health insurance?' With all of the other costs for the trip, adding health insurance coverage makes the trip even more expensive. Each time I've gone ahead and made the purchase, just to be safe. Fortunately, he's never had to use the insurance, until this last trip. And let me tell you, really, really glad we purchased the policy. Here's what happened: while snorkeling on an island in Thailand, my son got a small cut on his leg from a piece of coral. It was so small he didn't think anything of it. A couple of days later however, he suddenly felt very ill, started shaking and vomiting and couldn't think clearly. A friend took him to the local clinic where they quickly determined his temperature was 106.9 F, and he needed to get to a hospital immediately. The nearest hospital was two hours away by boat, and that's where they took him. That small coral scrape caused an infection that got into my son's blood stream causing sepsis. He was in the hospital for a week, and thank the Good Lord, he came home shortly thereafter and, after some follow-up treatment at a wound center, has now fully recovered. The help we received from Allianz travel insurance was WONDERFUL. The nurse case manager liaised with the hospital and kept me updated on my son's medical condition and progress. The Allianz team was extremely professional and courteous. And, they paid all of the hospital bills directly. 100%. As part of the trip interruption insurance coverage, they also reimbursed me for my son's flight home (we had to buy a new business class ticket for the return trip so my son's leg could stay elevated during the long flight home). I cannot tell you how pleased I am with the service provided by Allianz, and so happy I purchased the coverage for my son. I have told all of my family and friends, if you ever travel internationally, make sure you buy Allianz travel health insurance. You just never know what might happen.

Travelex Flight Insure Plus
I really appreciated that the claim was able to be submitted without printing. I got a check for the amount I spent replacing my stolen shoes within a couple weeks of filing my claim.

On the travelex website, a button stating, "file a claim online" is the link to the printable claim form. It is not fillable, but not read-only either. The workaround I chose was a pdf overwriting website, to which I uploaded what Travelex had asked me to print. I then filled it out, downloaded the completed form and emailed the file along with photo of another applicable form, and also forwarded another pertinent email. The claim specialist did not complain, but instead helped me to get them the necessary documents in whatever fashion I could.

I'm not a programmer, but I think this could have been done more simply, and more true to the button's claim:

1) A fillable PDF, with fields embedded, OR a fillable form on the webpage.itself (caution: should be https)
2) Add an option to upload to the website pertinent claim files, and/or fillable PDF claim form.

I recognize this is probably already in the pipes.

It was good to know I was covered. I'll use these folks in the future.

Navigating the website was easy and self-explanatory. Didn't file a claim but it was good to know my daughter would be covered if anything happened.

The plan has too many caveats and exclusions. We have used this firm for previous trips and vacations. Unfortunately the contract is written to exclude missed scheduled tours when the time to be cleared through customs and immigrations into UAE is longer than they consider acceptable. The air carrier landed on time. It was 45 minutes before economy passengers were deplaned. Luggage claim and immigrations required 2 hours. The contract excludes any missed tours unless the air carrier is 3 hours late.
Read the fine print.

What can I say? didn't use any part of the plan. It was good to know there was a $1 million evacuation clause.

Seven Corners Roundtrip
Although we did receive payment for a medical visit whilst on our trip, we were not very satisfied with the customer service.
We never received any communication that our claim documents had been received or any indication of how long it would take for the claim to be processed. Also, the promise of the collect call to notify Seven Corners when the illness occurred, was not fulfilled. We were in Thailand and had the hotel place the call. The concept of "collect call" obvious not recognized and we were charged $12.00 by the hotel. Seven Corners denied reimbursement despite our submission of proof of payment.

TravelSafe Classic
I had done a lot of checking on the computer for travel insurance, and this, to me, was the best value for the best coverage. This is the second time I have used TravelSafe. The only gripe that I would have is that because I was away for more than 30 days, the cost doubled, however, I was like 42 days away and it would have been nice if it were a little cheaper, or if they could offer incremental prices!
