Buying the insurance and making an adjustment of dates of travel were made very easy both on the web site and when I called customer service.
Our luggage was actually lost for a period of approximately 30 hours, over the 24 hour period which would have paid $200 for the time of delay. I say "lost" because until the luggage was delivered to Kenya, we were never given any assurance that Turkish Airlines knew of the whereabouts of our bags. We made do with what clothing we carried in the cabin or on our backs, and never made a purchase of additional clothing. So, of course, there was not a claim to be made. All's well that ends well.
