My Travel Guard
There was a difference in opinion between how long our flight was delayed in Houston. We reached our destination in Quito, Ecuador 29+ hours after leaving Casper. They said this did not meet their 24 hour criteria of a continuous interruption since the plane left Houston to Quito 13 hrs. later. A Travel Guard representative at the initial claims request directed us to make a claim for flight interruption when it should have been a Flight Delay (12 hr time frame). Travel Guard did allow me to add to our Delay claim for Houston and finally paid for our hotel. Both parties were at fault to some extent as to how we should make the claim. It took a lot of persistence on my part to sort through the fine print and Claims Department letters to get the settlement. We have used Travel Guard before but never filed a claim. Right now, I would look at other agencies and be very careful about the rules and fine print. WE did not get a whole lot of help from Continental either when trying to establish proof of the delay.
