For years, I've been using insuremytrip.com to help in planning to buy trip insurance. It's a great service. I had significant problems with the flights on my last international trip and filed a claim with Generali. I found Generali's web site clunky, yet I received my claim payment promptly.

My high review reflects the that was given to me by Insure My Trip and IMG regarding changes I made in my policy. The first request involved decreasing amount of coverage after realizing my nonrefundable business class air tickets should not have been included after I realized the airline would give me air credit if I cancelled. IMG decreased my coverage after I provided the appropriate documentation and refunded me. Then my total trip I cancelled due to Israel war and I was able to switch the plan to a new trip since it fell within the appropriate timeline. Again customer reps were helpful in getting this change.

We had to file a claim. We were on a cruise and my husband needed medical assistance. I called the number with the policy (the ship provided a phone line), and the rep could confirm we had a policy but not guarantee specific coverage. I get it--they're not claim adjustors. He gave me the number of someone else, who did the same. So I didn't get the confirmation/explanation I was looking for, but went ahead and hoped for the best.
Great results: filing was easy. Did everything on line when I got home. Glad I had purchased the policy shortly after we booked the trip because I didn't have to worry about the pre-existing conditions clause. (Wouldn't have applied, but didn't want any possible snags.) Got an email from Nationwide saying they had received the claim within a day. Two weeks later I have a check mailed to us for the full amount of the medical charges. (And medical charges on a ship are EXPENSIVE!) I wish their website would have been able to give an update, but I can live with that. I would buy from them again!
