Since I had canceled my trip for 2019, and rescheduled it for 2020 I didn’t use the insurance that I had purchased. There was a ton of red tape In order to change the dates from 2019 to the 2020 trip. It would have been easier to get congress to actually do something, than to change the dates on the policy. Basically I ended up wasting the cost of the policy, and will just get another one for the 2020 trip.

Thank you for your review. Insurance providers do allow travelers to transfer their policies from one trip to another. By transferring the policy to a future trip it allows customers to not lose the premium paid for the original policy, but it does require certain documentation to be submitted. Upon notice of the transfer request, an email is sent to the customer with the documentation requirements before the request is sent to the provider for processing. I filed a claim and was told it would take 30 days. After 30 days I called to ask the status, and was told all agents were not available and that I would receive a call back in 1 hour. About 4 hours later I received a message that they had called. I called back the next day, and was told that they were working on it. The following day, I received 3 emails. The first was totally illiterate with more misspellings than correct. The second recalled the first, and the third was a repeat of the first. I again called in and was told my claim was incomplete. I was then told it would be escalated to management and that I would hear soon. I asked what that time frame was and was told a "minimum" of two days. I asked what the maximum was and was not given an answer. Amount of the claim is minimal, less than 4% of the total for trip interruption. All of the important things are not even covered, since there are "no receipts" such as frequent flyer mile loss, downgrading to coach from first class, etc. Since their was no outlay, there are no receipts and therefore not covered. Not at all satisfied, would never use them again, and will tell everyone I know.

The claims administrator is required to adjudicate claims based on the terms and conditions of the policy and with any travel insurance policy you would be required to provide proof of loss. Receipts and documentation are required to support a claim.

Fortunately, we didn't need to use this plan but after seeing the need for two passengers to be medically evacuated from Antarctica on our cruise, I can certainly say that having the plan provided some additional peace of mind!
