Wanted insurance because my mother is 95 and if we had to cancel and return we wanted coverage. Fortunately all was well with her and we had a much needed wonderful week away.

My overall view is that travel insurance is an unfortunate need to protect a trip. I think each travel supplier should provide insurance as part of the cost of their services. But sadly they do not. That being said I have used CSA in the past and as long as the cost is low and service is high I will likely continue. Please note that I have never made a claim so I do not have that experience with CSA.

Our travel was delayed 30 hours by a pilots strike. Consequently we missed an entire day of a prepaid guided tour. Very thorough record keeping meant that we were able to recoup most of our expenses during the delay and receive reimbursement for the portion of the tour that was missed. Once all of our documentation was submitted CSA was prompt and fair in the handling of our claim. I would buy insurance from them again.

Although it was a pain to have to file for my health insurance first, after I received payment and documentation and sent it to CSA, they sent the remaining amount quickly.

CSA Travel Protection Custom Luxe
I have purchased CSA coverage twice, both times for trips to Europe. Luckily, I have had no need to file a claim. Before purchasing, I reviewed CSA and several of their competitors. After looking at the policies in detail, I found that CSA offered the broadest coverage at the lowest price, and also offered auto rental coverage I wanted as an option to their standard policies. Their online order and service processes are simple to use and provide fairly extensive documentation and FAQs. I had no need to spend time on the phone with an agent in order to complete my purchase. The Better Business Bureau and other online reviews gave them a high rating. I think they are a solid outfit.

It's really too expensive for people who make plans but have doctors who keep changing their medicaions, etc.

    Thank you for your feedback on the policy. CSA charges a higher premium on the Custom Luxe plan because they are exposing themselves to a greater risk. The most cost effective way of securing coverage for pre-existing conditions, is to purchase travel insurance within 10-21 days after making your initial trip deposit.

This was my 3rd purchase of CSA insurance through IMT and the purchase experience has always been positive with fast response.

This is the first time I've had to file a claim with CSA. Our flight was delayed for several hours and baggage was lost for 2 days. When we returned home, I flied the claim and included all requested documentation which was scanned in and clearly labeled. The claim was under $100. After a week of not even an acknowledgement of receipt from CSA, I had to email twice before learning no one had yet had a chance to review the claim. When they did respond, they twice requested documentation I'd already sent (which I then resent), and each email required 3-4 days for a response.

In the end, after about 4 weeks, I received the requested reimbursement, but if they were more responsive and organized it sure would make the process less painful and luckily I wasn't out of a lot of money. It's good coverage at a reasonable price, but if you have a claim be prepared for frustration and hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Thankfully we didn't have to use the policy but just having it gave us peace of mind on our trip. The representative we spoke to helped us find the exact policy we were looking for at the best price! We had never purchased trip insurance before but I'm sure we will for future trips.
