After a long battle with me having to "prove" my DCL Alaska cruise was cancelled "by DCL", they did come through and refunded my Policy premium. Next cruise I will buy from them again.

Having never filed a claim I really don't know how to provide real feedback, the coverage seemed to fit my needs, I do think it was quite costly but so was the trip so guess it was fair.

Had excellent customer service and guidance selecting a policy on the front end. There are a zillion companies and options, so needed insight into which was right for us. The lady was very nice and informative. Would recommend taking advantage of that. Thank goodness we didn’t have to file a claim this time, but did follow others’ advice to hang onto all documentation that proved we traveled, like boarding passes, baggage claim tags, doctor/hospital documents and all other receipts, etc. Having had to make claims in the past, this stuff made ALL the difference in how smooth and easy it was to be reimbursed.

I think it is important to carry travel insurance on any trip since one never knows if an emergency might arise. It does give us peace of mind even though the cost often seems very high.

Since we did not have to use the plan we purchased, I have no way of determining whether it would have provided the coverage we hoped it would or how well the company would have provided assistance had we encountered a problem before or during our trip. If faced with the choice of purchasing similar trip insurance in the future, I highly doubt if I would. In hindsight, and without encountering any problems, it was a waste of $550 that we could have instead spent on souvenirs or excursions during our travels to AK. I guess it's like any other insurance that it never used.

This is the second insured trip with Generali Global Assistance Standard plan. Based upon my experience to date I would definitely recommend Generali. The cost is reasonable and all customer representatives contacted have been professional, knowledgeable and responsive to any questions.
