I had always bought trip insurance in the past because of my mother's advanced age and failing health. However, for this trip to Africa, I questioned buying it because my mother had passed away and my husband and I were in great health......no foreseeable reasons to cancel. After debating the pros and cons of buying such a policy, my more conservative side won out and I bought the insurance so I could sleep at night. Then the fractured ankle and the subsequence surgery happened a short time before our departure. Global Alert made the claim process relatively easy. All calls were either handled immediately or calls were returned within the day (usually within the hour). Once I provided all the documentation, we received our check, covering all our expenses, minus what our tour company had refunded to us, within 2-3 weeks. I will never second guess the need for trip insurance for any major trip in the future. I would certainly look to Global Alert Preferred again to provide that coverage.

Extended trip by one day. Global Alert agent was extremely helpful in ensuring that we had complete coverage; gave us specific instructions on how to amend policy, with no additional charge.

After we submitted our claim, with all required documentation, we waited 13 weeks before receiving our checks. Staff at the company handling our claim said that they had a backlog due to a large volume of hurricane-related claims. That may be true, but they should have put on more staff, or taken some other action to increase their claim processing capacity.

    You will be pleased to know that Global Alert / TripMate did follow through on your suggestion to add more staff. However, hiring is only the first step followed by intense and detailed training that spread over several months.

    We are pleased to hear that you did receive your claim checks even though it took 13 weeks. Now that the recent hires have completed training. Global Alert / TripMate claims are being processed on a more timely basis.

Given the odds that the occurence would not occur keeping 25% of the premium for a cancel for any reason coverage is "hoggish"!

I really like InsureMyTrip. the options are presented clearly and are easy to understand. The website is very user friendly. It give me lots of choices, This is the fourth trip I have used InsureMyTrip and thankfully I have never had a claim

I guess the old saying still holds true, namely that you get what you pay for. This policy appeared to be a good value, but the coverage was less than expected. Specifically, I lost a day of touring because of a traveling companion's medical problems and expected a reimbursement for that day's loss. Instead, I was informed that no benefits would be paid. The plan apparently says that for an all-inclusive tour like we were on, pro-rata benefits are payable only if an, "entire day, including the overnight accommodations, must be missed." Although we spent our touring time in the local hospital's Emergency Room, that is not sufficient. Some of that is my fault for not reading ALL the FINE print, but what is NOT my fault is that it took 6 months for them to reject the claim. This is, therefore, not a company I would be quick to ever use again.

    We do want you and your fellow customers to be aware that InsureMyTrip offers a Customer Advocate Program. Customer Advocates are representatives assigned to assist customers who experience issues after filing a claim. Requesting a Customer Advocate is as simple as calling 800-487-4722 or emailing [email protected], explaining the events which resulted in a claim, and the challenges you are facing.
