My reservations about GlobalAlert! are not about the actual coverage. Rather, I had issues with TripMate, the company which processes claims for Global Alert and a number of other insurers. They took an excessively long time to process my claim. I initiated the claim on 10/29/14 and was told that they would have it resolved in 15 business days. I supplied them will all requested information in a very timely fashion, as I wanted to be made whole for financial losses I had incurred. I had to call repeatedly and basically become a nuisance to make anything happen. I was told over and over again that my claim was in "expedited" status, meant to make me think that they were trying to push it through rapidly. I was finally notified on 1/8/15 that my claim was settled. This was a day after I threatened to complain to Global Alert. The foot-dragging and excuse-making on the part of TripMate was epic. This should not have been difficult or lengthy. The final information they claim they needed from the airline could have been obtained on 10/30 with a simple phone call or email. In the end, and this reflects positively on Global Alert and the coverage, I was fully compensated for my loss.

Can't really comment on how good the plan was except in writing since fortunately we didn't have occasion to make a claim. We went with it because it seem relatively reasonable for what it was covering but I don't know whether it would have been difficult to get actual payment if we had needed it or not. Glad we didn't have to find out!

We did not make a claim - so I have no ideas about claim service. I was disappointed that the coverage for pre-existing conditions was so strict. At the time I booked the Safari I had not made any of the flight, hotel or other arrangements, but was not allowed to buy the coverage I thought I really needed.
