Global Alert! Preferred Plus
I have in the past used Global Alert many times successfully. Now, I DO NOT recommend them.
I recently took a 4 month trip. I had pneumonia and saw 2 doctors and a hospital, straight illness claim. I filed the claim the day after we returned. (May 3), I was told on May 10th, good to go to process. On May 21st, I called to check on claim, Trip Mate has sold my claim to Broadspire for processing. Trip mate (who legally owns the claim), has no status, the file is closed. Broadspire, is a workers comp processor, does not answer the phone. Leave a message. No Update on my claim. This process started on May 1, 2018, there was no notification, only status update that my claim was closed and no benefits paid.

Who needs this grief, Do not use this company Global Alert, if they are aligned with TripMate. You have no idea what's happening. No idea of claim status. Its been 4 weeks and I have no idea who has the file or when it will be paid.

    Global Alert, who is no longer writing new travel insurance policies, is in the process of securing a new underwriter. In the meantime, TripMate who previously handled claims for Global Alert, has transferred all responsibilities to Broadspire. You will be pleased to hear that Broadspire was very amenable to expediting your claim.

    Upon receiving your comments, we assigned your claim to Gail who is your Anytime Advocate. Gail contacted Broadspire who assured us that a claims representative would contact you to advise you that she would be processing your claim. If the company has all the documentation, Broadspire should be able to process your payment immediately and send it to management for final review.

    In the meantime, we are publishing your review but request that you let us know once you have received your check. You can call Customer Care weekdays from 7:00 AM to midnight ET and weekends from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM ET.

I filed a claim for medical reimbursement and also a missed connection. I received the payments for what I filed for, though it took several months after the paperwork was filed to have the claim reviewed and have my check. Though some of the documentation from my travel agent was lacking in detail, I still believe they took a long time to process as I have another claim in for another trip (with excellent documentation) that is taking a while to process.

I would never consider overseas travel without insurance and I like that Insuremytrip.com provides such a wide variety of coverage programs. Just be sure to read the fine print provided by the individual companies.

It took 3 months to get reimbursed. Trip mate personnel are incompetent......they requested further medical info from the VA doctor in Florida. Instead of finding out the correct fax from the MD in Florida, they were faxing requests to the inspector general of the VA in Washington DC! If I had not kept calling Trip Mate over and over, I probably would still be waiting. I will never buy this insurance again!

Because a family member is in the military and that life is always uncertain, I had to get "cancel for any reason" insurance, which was a little more expensive than the regular type. As it turned out, he didn't get to go so when we returned, I had him fill out all the forms to get a refund. The problem wasn't with the insurance--it was with the people I spoke with at this company. They really weren't very nice, I thought. When I called to check on the status, they said it would take at least a month after they got all the papers. That was ok, but the tone of their voice could have been better. We finally got a refund, which I do appreciate, but this company needs some training on how to talk to their customers.

The peace of mind this insurance policy provided can't be simply expressed. Thankfully we haven't ever needed the insurance but given pre-existing health issues, we'd rather be safe than sorry. Insure My Trip is easy to navigate and the professionals there really help you find the BEST policy for your circumstances. Far more inexpensively than dealing with the cruise lines or travel folks just trying to make a buck....
