This plan was inexpensive and easy to set up. My husband severely fractured his wrist in Mexico, and it has cost us almost $30,000 in surgeries ($24000 in Mexico and $5000 since returning). HCC has already paid all of the expenses that were not covered by our primary insurance since returning, and has promised to pay anything that our primary insurance does not pay from Mexico (if/when they decide). Jennifer, our case manager, has been fantastic.

Needed a last minute plan for medical coverage only since we already arrived at the port for the cruise. Easy and simple to purchase. A good peace of mind since we saw another person on the ship get evacuated at one of the ports in Mexico due to a heart attack. We hoped and prayed that they were ok and they had insurance. Medical care and flight to mainland US could be as high as $100,000 dollars.

Finding a good and reasonable trip insurance company (and policies) might be a challenge. Well, it was for me. Although these insurances are designed for travellers, amazingly insurance companies limit pretty much your coverage profile. For instance: I'm currently living in Mexico, bought a trip insurance for my (77 years old) Japanese mother living in Brazil. It was kind of difficult to fill up the forms and find a fit for all the required information (addresses, nationalities, citenzships...). But in the end everything went smooth and I did not need to file a claim with the insurance company.

Yes, it narrows down as it progresses. But as a proof of concept: I insured my mother (Kazuko) and used my email address. Your system records my mother name and addresses me (Paulo) with her name. There is no distinction between people buying insurance for themselves and third-parties insuring someone else. But that doesn't matter, anyway. It just proves what I stated on my review. This plan is easy to purchase at a very reasonable price and covers med. We have bought the plan to cover us on several cruises when we are outside of the United States where our normal insurance will not cover. Thankfully we have never had to make a claim so I can't review the claims process and whether or not there would be any issues with coverage and payment. But, I would like to think that if needed this plan would cover any medical and emergency evacuation needs that should arise outside of the country just like our regular insurance covers us when we are at home.
