So, as always thankful that I didn’t need to use the plan I purchased for our travel protection needs. I hope that this will always be the case in future trips but I do have to say that I have been impressed with Insure My Trip for keeping consistent contact with us before, during and after our trips! This was the first time I ever filed a claim under a trip insurance policy. We needed to cancel our trip to the Canadian Rockies because of the wildfires, and the state of emergency in British Columbia. In the long run, it was fine, as our trip was covered fully. But it was a bit off-putting that we could only communicate by email, and the information we received was very basic. The claims form only had a small comment block to explain what happened, with no examples or lists of what to submit. I put together a timeline and a set of 8 tabbed documents. In return, I got a request for additional documents--by blandly worded email--with no way to tell if our first submission was what was required. After each submission, the email said it would be about 10 business days for the next step. They tended to beat that schedule, but the uncertainty was always there. Today, I found out that our claim would be paid in full--we should get it in about 10 business days. So, all is well, but a bit of personal contact and explanation/reassurance about what to submit would have been nice. I have received that on my rare car or home owners' insurance claims.

The claim process was lengthy and redundant. Some of the same paperwork was requested several times . Ultimately I was reimbursed for 100% of my loss , but it took months during a time that I was critically ill and didn’t have the strength to deal with the MASSIVE amount of paperwork MULTIPLE times

When you buy insurance and don't use it, don't have to file a claim, you have no way of knowing if it was any good or not. However, I am glad I didn't need to file a claim! My comparisons of plans and prices led me to this company, so I guess I stand by that decision. Insuremytrip.com was easy to use, and I even got to talk to a human to answer some questions!

We DID need to file a claim. We were planning a family trip to Africa with the whole family including the grandchildren. Unfortunately, we couldn't go, but we had already paid a very large deposit and had paid for all the airfare. Each family bought a separate policy. Our children chose the policy offered by the travel company. We chose ITravelInsured. Our policy was less expensive, more comprehensive, and faster to reimburse. However, that said, it took a long time and much paperwork to get our refund. One hint I learned is to insure the airfare as well as the tour/cruise/staycation. We learned that most airlines won't reimburse you, even by letting you use a credit on that airline at a later date unless you are flying first class (not business class). Fortunately, most of the family did insure their airfare, which these days is often more than the trip itself. ITravelInsured helped us all along the way with good advice and encouragement. This was helpful because there was so much paperwork.

Our airline cancelled our flight home from New Zealand the night before we were to come home! Spent two extra nights in Christchurch. not a hardship but IMG reimbursed to policy limits for the additional cost. Top notch service.
