I was unaware of the limitations of this policy. My step son travelling with me got a throat infection while we were away. Taking him to the Hospital was not an option. When I called the insurance company I was told this policy was for serious life treating issues. I could take him to the ER and then a decision would be made as to coverage. In the meantime I would have to pay out of pocket and MAYBE I would be reimbursed. Instead I consulted the pharmacist. I was disappointed at the lack of help I received from the agent. My mistake was I should have informed myself of how to use this plan before I left for my trip.

Thank you for your review. Assuming your stepson also had travel insurance with the RoamRight Essential plan, he would have up to 15,000 USD in emergency accident and sickness coverage. Our 24-hour assistance provider, On Call International, would have been able to assist you in finding non-emergent care for the infection. In this situation, you likely would have had to pay out of pocket and submit for reimbursement. However, our claims process is straightforward and easy to do online. You are able to start your claim process the same day treatment was sought. Did not realize that all aspects of trip even if they were refundable by the provider, had to be insured in order for the pre-existing conditions waiver to be in effect.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. For residents of Maryland who purchase the RoamRight Essential plan, the exclusion for Pre-Existing Condition will be waived provided:
1) The policy is purchased within 21 days after making the initial deposit/payment for your trip; and
2) You insure 100% of the cost of all travel arrangements that are subject to cancellation penalties or restrictions by the travel supplier; and
3) You or the individual with the Pre-Existing Condition are medically fit to travel when the policy is purchased; and
4) The booking for the trip is the first and only booking for the travel period and destination.Sep 29,2015

All customer service representatives were great whenever I called with questions both prior and after I purchased the plan. However, my printer was not working and I repeatedly had to call to ask for a copy to be mailed to me. Several representatives said they would mail it and I never received it. The last time I called, I told the representative that it was my last request. It was only then that I received the policy.
