Our policy seemed expensive at the time of purchase, but having the peace of mind that we were covered was more important than the price. I am happy that we didn't need to use the insurance. Traveling without it is foolish, in my opinion.

I feel totally cheated. We purchased the "Cancel For Any Reason" plan because our daughter's work situation was so uncertain that there was possibility that she might not make to the trip up to the last minute. It turns out that plan has a "fine print" that a cancellation must be made 48 hours before the scheduled departure, which was never brought to my attention while I was considering purchasing it. As a result we missed the "48 hours" window and we did not get a coverage at all. If it requires two days advance notice, it is not really a "cancel for any reason" plan. Additionally this critical requirement should have been printed large and clear on up of the policy, the notice email and the insurance certificate, instead of hidden amoung the sea of words and have people miss it easily.
When I called RoamRight to report that my daughter did not get on the plane, the customer service representative apparently was not aware of this requirement either. She suggested that this was not a problem, and I would be reimbursed of the 75% of cost.
In short this was a terrible experience. I will find a way to post this to a larger audience so that others don't make the same mistake as i did.

Due to a mechanical problem with the airplane I was on, my arrival at my final destination was 12 hours late. So, I lost an entire day of my vacation. But, I was told by Insure My Trip that my coverage would not compensate me anything for that lost day because I had no lost luggage, delayed luggage, or hotel loss. Just an entire lost vacation day which should have had some compensation value but did not. An important lacking with this coverage.

Fortunately, we did not need to use the insurance plan. We have never had to use insurance for any of our travels ( all 7 continents) however the peace of mind is important. Expensive, but precautionary. The final leg of this trip was on a cruise ship. In two ports, there were ambulances pulled up to the ship to take off passengers before the rest of the cruise passengers were allowed to depart. Not us, but a reminder of the need for insurance for medical emergencies, if needed.

This site was recommended by AARP magazine, and I can see why. It makes 1) understanding and 2) comparing travel-insurance offers quick and easy. I went to Berlin for a month without coverage for a pre-existing condition. If I had known about this site earlier, I would have been able to get that coverage, too. As I recall, typically, you have to buy the trip insurance within a week or so of making your first trip-related purchase (e.g., airline tickets or hotel) to get pre-existing condition coverage. I will definitely consult this site first before we go to Hamburg this summer.

While I (thankfully) did not use this plan I would never travel without medical and air evacuation insurance. Not having used the insurance, I can't comment on the ease of filing a claim but the coverage was good and the companies rating was high and the cost was very reasonable.

Thank you for providing your feedback. There are 3 main factors that determine premium costs: the cost of the trip, the length of the trip, and the traveler's ages.
The Arch RoamRight Preferred is a benefit rich policy. In addition to the standard comprehensive policy benefits, this policy also includes the Pre-Existing Condition Waiver, Political and Security Evacuation and an Itinerary Change benefit.

The criteria for Cancel for Any Reason coverage is displayed on page three of the policy document – available for your viewing on InsureMyTrip prior to purchasing -- as well as linked to the Cancel for Any Reason coverage description on the InsureMyTrip purchase page. Your claim was adjusted according to the terms of your policy.
We are a little perplexed by the account of your call in which one of our representatives may have provided you with contradictory information regarding the 48 hour Cancel for Any Reason cancellation period. Our representatives have been trained on the policy coverages.
