We had to cancel our trip at the last minute due to illness of a family member who was not travelling with us. Customer Service at Insure My Trip was very helpful in answering pre-claim submittal questions and C&F managed the claim in a timely manner. Once I notified C&F of the cancellation, I received an email with specific instructions on what needed to be submitted to file and process the claim. Although a lot of information and forms were required, I understand why all of the info was necessary. Once I submitted the appropriate documents, I received a full refund within 7 days.

Hurricane Irma struck my hometown exactly one day before a planned trip to Germany and forced me to cancel. Fortunately, the airline, rail pass issuer and hotel for a planned side trip all refunded my purchases in full (or didn't charge my credit card) because of the extreme weather. Only AirBNB made no allowance for emergencies and kept half of my lodging charges. When I called Travel Insured to ask a couple of procedural questions, the customer service rep, Deb, not only answered them fully but sent me the claim forms immediately. I filed, they reviewed my claim, requested additional documentation, and then promptly paid in full. The entire process took only about two weeks from start to finish -- much more quickly than I expected.

Good policy to have if you've got a gnawing fear, as I did, that something might come at the office close to departure time which would force you to cancel the trip. Happily, my fears were unfounded, and I didn't have any problems taking the trip. But knowing that contingency was covered gave me a real peace of mind.

If your fellow travelers were interested in purchasing a policy that included "Cancel for Work Reasons", they should carefully review the plan before purchasing or call Customer Care for assistance. The cancel for any reason rider is NOT for any reason. It does not include any emergencies that may happen in the 48 hours before you leave on your trip. This is ridiculous and idiotic.
I do not recommend this company, nor do I think that travel insurance is a very good investment for many of us who do not book all-inclusive trips.

According to the terms and conditions of your plan, in order to use Cancel for Any Reason, you must cancel Your Trip 48 hours or more before Your Scheduled Departure Date. Unfortunately, we do not have any plans that will allow you to cancel your trip for any reason on the day of departure. We were lucky and didn't need the insurance, but it provided a lot of piece of mind while traveling through Europe with 3 kids. We were looking for a plan that included rental car insurance and it was nice when declining insurance through the rental company to have the policy to show them. For the price I would highly recommend it just for the piece of mind.

I don't really plan to write a review, but I would like to mention a small complaint. The insurer should have sent us cut-out wallet cards so that we would have contact information and the policy number in case the carry-on and checked bags containing the full information were lost or stolen. Some insurers do this.

There are some providers that do provide a cut out ID card for their customers to take while traveling. Some providers, like C&F Travel Insured International, will provide a Conformation of Benefits page within their conformation email. This document was created for you to take with you while traveling and will house your policy details, contact information and policy numbers.

It was good having the plan set up, although fortunately, we did not need to use it. For peace of mind when you travel it's a good idea because you really never know when or if you will need assistance.
