Travelex was a total waste of money for us. Our airline changed time of connecting flight which we purchased as one reservation and one booking number (not even notifying us). We were told about it when we came to the airport. We missed connecting flight and had to buy airline ticket on different airline at the Bangkok airport to continue our trip. It wasn't out fault at all. It wasn't refunded by Travelex.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn of the unfortunate circumstances that occurred during your trip and that your claim was denied. The event that interrupts your trip must fall within the scope of the Trip Interruption benefit on the policy in order to be reimbursed for additional transportation expenses.

We appreciate you using InsureMyTrip for your travel insurance needs. As a travel insurance comparison website, InsureMyTrip offers dozens of plans from different providers. In the future, please consider calling us prior to purchasing a plan so that we can assist you in selecting the most cost effective policy that covers as many of your primary concerns as possible. Our toll free telephone number is 800-487-4722. We look forward to assisting you in the future.

Below is a response from Travelex:
"We want to thank you for taking the time to put your concerns in writing and we are sorry to hear of your frustration.

The Travel Select plan you purchased is a Named Peril Policy, meaning the policy outlines the coverage included and if the reason for trip interruption, missed cruise connection, and/or trip delay is not listed, coverage does not apply. The Description of Coverage was emailed to you on October 30, 2017 at 7:57pm, when the policy was purchased.

If the airline did not provide you with notice that your flight schedule had been changed, or the change made it impossible for you to make the connecting flight, we recommend contacting the airline, by emailing the airline’s claim department, to request reimbursement for the out of pocket expenses you incurred as a result of the change.

We empathize with your unfortunate situation; however, we trust that you understand that based on the terms and conditions of the protection plan purchased, and the information you presented, the reason for your request for reimbursement is not covered."

Travelex Travel Basic
Disaster struck immediately as our first of three connecting flights was cancelled. Had to purchase a last minute replacement with a different airline at full fare. Filed a claim with Travelex that took a little longer than I expected, but 4 months after filing the claim I received a reimbursement check for the cost of the replacement flight. Travel insurance was worth it.

Travelex Flight Insure Plus
I really appreciated that the claim was able to be submitted without printing. I got a check for the amount I spent replacing my stolen shoes within a couple weeks of filing my claim.

On the travelex website, a button stating, "file a claim online" is the link to the printable claim form. It is not fillable, but not read-only either. The workaround I chose was a pdf overwriting website, to which I uploaded what Travelex had asked me to print. I then filled it out, downloaded the completed form and emailed the file along with photo of another applicable form, and also forwarded another pertinent email. The claim specialist did not complain, but instead helped me to get them the necessary documents in whatever fashion I could.

I'm not a programmer, but I think this could have been done more simply, and more true to the button's claim:

1) A fillable PDF, with fields embedded, OR a fillable form on the webpage.itself (caution: should be https)
2) Add an option to upload to the website pertinent claim files, and/or fillable PDF claim form.

I recognize this is probably already in the pipes.

It was good to know I was covered. I'll use these folks in the future.

Travelex Travel Basic
My partner and I bought the Travel Basic plan never thinking we would need it...but then I was unexpectedly in a bicycle accident that precluded me from travel. With the mounting medical bills I kept my fingers crossed that we could get our money back that we had already sunk into our (already belated) honeymoon without any hassle. And lo & behold, that's exactly what happened! We submitted all documents that we had and within 10 days of them receiving our claim & supporting documents, we had our checks in hand, no further questions asked. I would highly recommend Travelex Travel Basic and will be sure to purchase it again when we finally get to that honeymoon!

Travelex Travel Select
When traveling to SEA I am always concerned about the prospect of having a health issue occur and not being able to get home.

Consequently I look at policies that offer a great evacuation plan if unforseen big health issues pop up.

I found the Travelex Travel Select plan to offer a very good health insurance plan and a great evacuation plan at a reasonable price.

I am very happy that I've never had to make a claim while traveling but, it is comforting to know that if I have to...that I have a good insurance plan behind me.
