It was very easy to purchase this policy on line. The company rep was able to answer my questions thoroughly both times I called. I recommend Tokio Marine and although I did not have a claim, I will use them again for future insurance needs.

Generali Global Assistance Standard
I was very satisfied with the Standard plan and for a trip costing In the thousands found the price to be very competitive. I am so glad I did not have to use the plan for any components of our SE Asia trip.
I will share that we had to use an earlier Generali Global Asistance Standard plan when our trip was cancelled to the Turks & Caicos due to adverse weather conditions. The Plan reimbursed us our entire lodging expense which was non-refundable. I plan to keep using Generali when I have incurred major expenses that need to be insured. Thank you

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
On my way to Bangkok I chipped my tooth and I was not going to have it repaired there as the places where not to my standards. When I came back to the US I made an apt. with my dentist to get it repaired and found out that it is not covered. Bangkok is a 3rd world city and the thought of having my tooth worked on there was not an option for me. I feel like this should of be covered but was told it is not.

    Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to learn that you chipped a tooth during your trip and are dissatisfied with this policy. The claims administrator is required to adjudicate claims based on the terms and conditions of the policy. With any travel insurance policy you would have to seek treatment during your trip for it to be considered a covered expense. Once you return home, the policy will terminate.

    Per the Covered Expenses definition in your certificate: "Reasonable and Customary Charges incurred while insured under this Certificate; and that do not exceed the Maximum Benefit limits shown in the Confirmation of Coverage, under each stated benefit."

Your problem is in handling changes to the the coverage. One should not have to keep on it many, many times to add additional coverage for a pre-trip tour add on (earlier start). 6 calls to agency supervision in 8 days and several calls they had to make to you.

InsureAssist TravCan Premier
I fell and broke a tooth while in a remote and rural area of Thailand just a few days before my planned return to USA. I sent an email claim to Nationwide alerting them that I could not find medical assistance where I was and would get medical/dental attention the very next day that I returned to civilization(USA). I did that and then submitted the paid bill with my claim officially to the carrier. That was just rejected on the grounds that I should have gotten emergency treatment while in Thailand, which I explained was unavailable. That is unreasonable and unfair and was a sour and dissatisfied end to me doing business with you and Nationwide.

    I apologize for the inconvenience and your experience on your trip. Unfortunately, claims departments will need proof the incident happened while on your covered trip. If you did not seek treatment of any kind there is no way to certify it happened on your trip.
