We are always happy that we don't have to collect on trip insurance. This trip was closest .
My husband went 2 days before our trip with chest pains . He felt sure acid reflex .
However , went ER . They did all blood work and no indication heart .However, we are both 75 and he didn't have stress test in 30 years so they suggested staying overnight for nuclear stress test . He did .
We knew that we could cancel trip but we wanted to go an a small boat (50 rooms) on adventure cruise of hiking , Kayaking, and whale watching (humpback and killer) ,etc .
I left the hospital few hours and my daughter and I came home and did a lot of " house preparation " for 10 day trip. Then returned hospital and left early evening and packed for both of us. I went back to hospital . Test results good . He was able to drive us home before he went and got gas , haircut, pick up RX , etc. next morning left 6:30 AM for flight and our trip . Had a great 10 day vacation!

Only suggestion is when purchase trip insurance thru April and don't use that get small credit for future purchase trip insurance .

My wife had health issues and so had to cancel her part of the trip, though I continued. I filed a claim for $1400 with all required information at the end of May. Upon returning home, after nearly 2 months of inaction and only cryptic notes given in the online claim status report, I called customer service at TravelClaimsOnline.

The representative could not explain the delay, especially during 3 weeks of June when no status entries were made. She also pointed out that for some unknown reason, the claim number was changed without informing me, so I could not know any of the latest status updates anyway.

It is now the end of July and the claim status report of the new number on the day after I called said, "final payment printed". The check finally arrived two months after filing the claim and much confusion.

I made a claim to another travel insurance company for a separate trip that I had to cancel due to my wife's health issue. It was also obtained through InsureMyTrip. The claim was processed in 2 weeks. I will use this company again!

MY MEDICARE PLAN DOES NOT COVER ME OUTSIDE OF THE US AND THIS PLAN MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO TAKE A 17 DAY BICYCLE RIDE IN MONTANA AND CANADA. IT IS JUST NOT WORTH RISKING A MEDICAL SITUATION WITH NO COVERAGE COMPARED TO WHAT THIS PLAN OFFERED AT A REASONABLE PRICE.

John Hancock Bronze
We use www.insuremytrip.com as it is easy way to find best policy for us. Many of our trips are long and due to our increase in age we are not happy with the premiums that are charged.....eventually it will prohibit us from traveling. We consider ourselves to be self insured and our only real needs are "cancellation"........It would be nice to be able to get coverage for just "cancellation" and perhaps emergency medical/evacuation (although we get reimbursed if self insured)) at a much lower cost. Often we pick John Hancock because it is the most competitive.... We have purchased several policies via www.insuremytrip.com in the past.
