Easy to purchase and to amend coverage. Provided peace of mind on an active vacation with a reasonable possibility of injury.

Of course, the real test is a claim and fortunately we did not have to submit one.

Travelex Travel Select
Easy to select the plan that has the coverage you want. I purchase my travel insurance at insuremytrip for all my trips for the ease of purchase and price. Even though prices are high, they are currently still less than if you bought through a travel package and you get to easily find your coverage desired. I have not had to file a claim as of yet and hopefully will not need to on future trips but I always get the coverage.

I experienced a 48 hour baggage delay on my insured trip to Australia. Because the airline (Virgin Australia) provided no notification my bag had been located or was being forwarded, I purchased a little less than $300 in clothing and toiletry items while my luggage was missing (walking shoes, sunblock, etc). I carefully kept the very small amount of lost/delayed baggage notification provided by Virgin Australia, got a letter from the hotel desk clerk documenting the actual arrival time of the suitcase, and kept all purchase receipts. Seven Corners, the plan administrator, was very helpful and friendly when I first called after my return, provided tips on how to most efficiently complete the form, and promptly e-mailed the form to me. While it was time consuming to collect and submit the documentation, I was pleased with Seven Corners and John Hancock response, first with acknowledgment of my claim then, less than 2 weeks later with no additional requests for information, full payment of my claim. I received the check about 1 week later. I'll purchase this coverage again and will again carry 24 hours of emergency clothing with me. You never know... Thanks, John Hancock and Seven Corners.

AXA Assistance USA Silver
AXA claims handling is terrible. I made a claim because the first leg of a three leg international journey was cancelled due to a winter storm. I had to rent a car to drive 300 miles to the next airport to catch the second leg of the trip. The airline's ticket refund was less than the cost of the rental car. I filed a claim with AXA for about $100--the amount the rental car charge exceeded the airline reimbursement.

I submitted the extensive documentation AXA required. After 6 weeks, AXA denied the claim with a nonsensical letter. I explained the claim again, and AXA requested additional documentation, which I provided. In response, AXA denied the claim again--this time insisting that my flight was cancelled 2-1/2 months before departure, not the night before departure. I threatened a small claims lawsuit and reported the matter to insuremytrip.com. After a few weeks, AXA requested (for the first time) a letter from the airline confirming the cancellation and the reason. I provided that documentation and my claim was finally accepted.

Nothing happened to me. So that good. Except I've got about $250. less than I have at the start and I didn't use any benefits. But what can ya do? I insured my trip and now I'm home safely. End of story.
