Limited weekend customer service telephone coverage. Wanted to call at 6PM Pacific due to flight delay from Kona to LAX. Not open. The need to know was immediate.

    It sounds like you were trying to reach InsureMyTrip's customer service which is open on weekends from 9AM - 9PM EST. When you are traveling, please remember it is your insurance company's 24-hour emergency assistance number that your should be calling for any travel-related issues. The assistance companies have 2 telephone numbers: one toll free to call when inside the U.S. and Canada; one to call collect when outside the U.S. They are available around the clock to provide you with assistance.

Our trip ended up being a day longer than we initially anticipated because our return flight was overnight. We called AXA to extend the plan a day and they were very helpful and immediately extended the plan for the extra day.

I had a bad head cold and was unable to participate in a prepaid unrefundable scuba diving day. The dive operater wrote a receipt, signed with her contact email address to verify the legitimacy of the incident. But because I was not "evaluated by a physician" it would not be worth filing.

    Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you were ill during your trip. You bring up an excelent point about travel insurance. When becoming ill or injured, while on a trip, it is necessary to seek medical attention while on your trip in order to have coverages such as interruption and medical expenses reimbursed through your insurance coverage. Also, be sure to get copies of medical records and an itemized receipt. Don't forget that you can always call the 24-hour emergency assistance number for guidance. They are there for more than just emergencies and can provide other services as well.

Fortunately, did not need to submit a claim, but the coverage provided peace of mind, will use HCC again as some companies have restrictions or age limits. It is the elderly that have a bigger need for travel insurance coverage.

As we sat on the tarmac in our home city being enveloped in a total snow whiteout, we immediately sighed a bit of a sigh of relief knowing that if we could not make our connecting flight as least we had insurance. The airport closed, we could not even taxi back to our gate. We had three hours between flights but we watched and waited as the time continued to tick on.............

The airport reopened, our flight did take off and we made the connecting flight. It just pays to be prepared for anything when traveling internationally. Too many things that are out of one's control can happen and with the costs involved, it is folly not to insure the trip.

After filing a claim for a cancelled trip, our experience with this company was terrible. We continually had to call them to track the claim and every time they would say we needed to send more paperwork. Some receipts we sent them 4 times. We even had one of the tour operators email us to ask why they kept asking him for the same information. It took about 6 months for us to get about half of our money back. The one good thing I will say is about InsureMyTrip, who stepped in to help us at one point and were great to deal with.

    We are sorry to learn that you were dissatisfied with the claims service. We apologize on behalf of the claims administrator that your claim took an unusually long time to process, and that you were repeatedly asked to provide documentation that had already been submitted. Depending upon the complexity of the claim, and how readily available the claims documentation is, claims processing should take anywhere between 3-8 weeks.

I'm more than satisfied. I had a dental problem overseas and they reimbursed me every penny I had spend. Very nice personnel and business to deal with. I will strongly recommended.
