Disney Magic Through the Holiday

If you are traveling to Walt Disney World during the holiday season and were thinking about attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, you should definitely do it!

To attend the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) you need to purchase a separate ticket for the event.  It occurs on select nights through November & December – so check your trip dates!

The Magic Kingdom will close early for all guests who do not have a ticket to the event. Those guests need to leave the park and only those guests with the party pass are allowed to stay and enjoy the festivities.  The party starts at 7PM, but if you are attending the event you may be able to get into the park any time after 4PM.

Pick a Perfect Dinner Time
No matter if you are in the Magic Kingdom all day or are just arriving for the 7PM start time, be sure to eat beforehand.  Yes, you should still make reservations ahead of time but, this might be a good day to try and get into Cinderella’s Castle or Be Our Guest.

The night will be busy, there will be lots of things happening so, eat a good meal before 4PM.  If you get hungry later on that’s perfect – the Holiday Treat Locations are set up around the Magic Kingdom for your enjoyment until Midnight!

Don’t Skip the Parade
If you have ever been to Walt Disney World during peak travel times you may skip the stage shows, parades, and firework shows to take advantage of the short wait times for rides and character meet & greets.  When traveling to Disney during the holiday season I would recommend that you relax and find that perfect spot to watch the parade & firework show instead.

MVMCP parades, stage shows, and fireworks displays are truly spectacular.  You don’t want to miss them.  They happen twice each night of MVMCP.  You can choose which showing you would like to see.  My family and I have always chosen the later shows even when the kids were little.  For me, it’s a magical way to end the night.

Eat Those Cupcakes When You Wait
After you find the perfect place to view the stage show, parade, and fireworks my suggestion would be to send one person from your party into the Main Street Bakery. During MVMCP, there are a handful of seasonal treats that are only available during the special ticketed event. The Main Street Bakery has special holiday themed cupcakes – the perfect treat when waiting for the parade and festivities to begin.

Meet & Greet the Characters
MVMCP is a great time to see unique or rare characters.  If you would like to take photos with some of these characters, get in line and be early. Don’t miss your opportunity.  In my experience the lines don’t get shorter.  As soon as you can get a schedule of who, when and where make your plans.

Be Social
Last bit of advice, talk to cast members if you have questions or concerns.  If you are not sure where you should be waiting or if you are in a good location to see the parade and fireworks, just ask them. Most of them are extremely friendly and want you to have a magical time.
