Note: American Express is not accepting enrollments in American Express Travel Insurance or Global Travel Shield anywhere at this time (not just on our website). We apologize for the inconvenience.
Offering the highest limits of coverage of the American Express plans, the Platinum plan includes high limits for Medical, Emergency Medical Evacuation and Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage. This includes AD&D 24 hour coverage, while on a common carrier, and also while on a flight. You are able to name beneficiaries, to whom this life insurance benefit would be paid to.
As with the Gold plan, the Cancel for Business Reasons option is offered if you are concerned that you might have to cancel your trip for a covered, unforeseen work related issue. To be eligible for this option, you must purchase the plan within 14 days of the initial trip deposit.
Another benefit with the Platinum plan is that your bags only need to be delayed for three or more hours for the baggage delay coverage to become active. This coverage is helpful to reimburse you for necessities that you may have to purchase if you arrive at your destination, but your bags don’t.
In regards to Trip Delay coverage, as with the Gold plan, you must be traveling on a scheduled airline during the trip to be eligible for benefits in the event of a covered delay.

The coverage was a good price. My trip went well so I did not need to submit a calm, but would recommend coverage for all travel plans that are out side of the continental US.Robert S.
Compared to coverage by the group I traveled with, the coverage was better and the price lowerNancy B.
Fortunately I didn't have to use the plan but felt safer having it.Mary R.
