The Patriot International plan offers travel medical coverage for U.S. citizens that are traveling outside of their home country. It does not include coverage for travel within the United States. Your primary health insurance may not fully cover you while traveling abroad, and this plan can help to fill the coverage gaps.
As all travelers' needs differ, this plan allows you to choose your medical coverage limits and your deductible amount. The medical coverage options range from $50,000 to $2,000,000. The maximum limit for travelers age 70-79 is $50,000. The maximum limit for travelers age 80 or above is $10,000.
The deductible options range from $0 to $2,500. The plan will automatically default to $250 unless you select another option. This flexibility allows you to assess your budget and choose an amount that you are comfortable paying out-of-pocket.
For travelers ages 64 or younger, there is an optional Adventure Sports and Evacuation Plus riders available to add to the plan. The Adventure Sports rider will allow for additional medical coverage if medical care is needed due to an injury during an activity such as mountaineering over 4500 ft, or scuba diving to 50m to name a few. The Evacuation Plus rider allows for additional emergency medical evacuation coverage as well as natural disaster evacuation benefits.
Other coverages include emergency medical evacuation and Accidental Death & Dismemberment. If you have primary health plan, and are under age 65, this plan covers sudden recurrence of a pre-existing condition up to the maximum medical limit selected. If you are under age 65 and do not have primary health coverage, then this plan covers up to $20,000.
For those that are 65 and older, this plan covers up to $2,500 for a sudden recurrence of a pre-existing condition. A condition is considered pre-existing if it existed in the three year period prior to the plan effective date.
This plan also includes 24/7 emergency assistance services that you can call in the event there is an emergency during your trip. These assistance services can help in the event of a medical emergency, evacuation, or if precertification is needed.
Travel Medical plans offer specific coverage needed while traveling abroad. These plans are available to travelers who are leaving their home country and require medical insurance to fill the gaps in their primary health insurance coverage.
