A month after submission of a very well documented claim, I called for a status since the online claim tracker hadn't moved for two weeks. No one answered; however, the voice mail said someone would call back within 24 hours. No one did, but I got the same "will call you back within 24 hours" message. Again, no answer. I called again and actually got a person. They found my claim and said it would be expedited and I would hear from her in 3 workdays. At the 5 workday point, I called again and was told the claim was being reviewed and should be completed shortly. Evidently the claims work overwhelmed the available staff and everything was behind. Finally, after 2 1/2 months, the claim was paid.

    The following is a statement issues by the claims administrator:

    “Thank you for writing a review and making us aware of your negative experience with your claim. I understand you are dissatisfied with the time it took for your claim to be paid and our communication during the claims process. You are correct, you filed a very well documented claim, and Trip Mate did not process your claim quickly. Our goal is to process your claim within 10 business days once all documentation is received, and we failed to achieve this goal with your claim. Being responsive and communicating clearly is a priority for our customer service team, and we fell short of this, as well. We agree that it is unacceptable to promise a call back and not fulfill that commitment. Please accept my sincere apologies for the frustration associated with your claim. We truly appreciate you sharing this feedback because your experience will help us improve our training and better assist other travelers.”

My experience discussing my travel insurance needs and traveling concerns with customer service representatives was good. Researching options and discussing needs was good. Had peace of mind with insurance for such a costly trip.

CSA Travel Protection Custom
The plan was more comprehensive than others I reviewed, and was competitively priced. This plan offered more protection for less cost than other carriers offering less coverage. Based on the scope of coverage and price comparisons, I would recommend CSA to others and will use the service for future vacations.

After reviewing the plan in more detail as my trip neared, I found that the number and type of exclusions was more than I realized and would look elsewhere next time.

    The best time to read the terms and conditions of a comprehensive travel insurance policy is within 10 days after purchase. Most policies have a 10 or 14 day review period. If for any reason you wish to cancel the plan, you can do so for a full refund of premium, minus a small service fee. After you surpass the review period, the plan cannot be cancelled.

The plan covered all the basics and was generous in its pay-outs. It was the best price compared to similar plans, but all the plans we looked at seemed expensive.

    Premium for comprehensive policies are calculated based on: the pre-paid and non-refundable trip cost, the age(s) of the traveler)s), and the length of travel. Typically, comprehensive policies will cost between 4%-10% of the total pre-paid, nonrefundable trip cost.

Seven Corners Roundtrip
We arrived in Italy for a cruise a day early, but our luggage didn't arrive with us. However, the luggage did arrive on the ship just before sailing the following day. Having this coverage helped us keep our stress level under control. The peace of mind it provided before and after the trip was definitely well worth the premium. We filed a claim for our expenses, under the Baggage Delay benefit and provided the necessary paperwork and explanation. The claim was approved and we received reimbursement within three weeks. Very pleased with Customer Service Department and Claims Department. Very satisfied with this plan. Would recommend highly.

Great price compared to the cruise lines. Was able to add my air fare and other pre-paid items. I didn't file a claim so I don't know how they respond and compensate if required.
