My son was going on a one-month "high adrenaline" trip to New Zealand. We needed a plan that would cover such activities as skydiving, bungee jumping and scuba diving. This plan offered an optional rider for high-risk activities and the cost was affordable.

Plan did not include pre-existing conditions and it was expensive nonetheless! I would not recommend it. If I had known I couldn't get a plan covering pre-existing conditions because I had put down an initial deposit last May, I would not have made that initial deposit.

The InsureandGo Global Silver plan does offer the preexisting medical condition waiver but only if you purchase the policy within 14 days of your Initial Trip Payment. The premium for Comprehensive plans, which is based on the age of the travelers, trip cost per traveler, length of trip and sometimes destination, does not vary with or without the preexisting medical condition waiver. Some Comprehensive plans offer the waiver if you purchase the plan within 10, 14, 15, 21 or 30 days of your Initial Trip Payment. The number of days depends on the plan you select.
However, we now offer plans that will provide the waiver if you purchase the policy on or before the final payment. However, it would be unlikely for these plans to be less expensive that the plan that you purchased.Mar 04,2016

I purchased an AXA Assistance USA Gold Plan for a 2 week trip to New Zealand for myself and my husband. Unfortunately we had to cancel about 6 weeks before the trip due to a medical problem. I was worried that AXA would make me jump through hoops to get our refund for trip expenses but that was definitely not the case. The AXA claims specialists were professional and helpful. I submitted the paperwork that was necessary and got notification of acceptance for the claim and a check very quickly. I will use AXA in the future.
