Seven Corners Roundtrip Choice
I shop the different options for every trip I take. The Seven Corners Roundtrip Choice plan always wins out when it comes to coverage as compared to price. The one or two times I've needed to make a claim, the process is been easy.

M.H. Ross Advantage Asset
The price was a little high, but we liked the coverage. We were willing to pay to receive reassurance for any unexpected family issues.

Many thanks. I am glad that I had coverage. All who climb in the Himalayas should have coverage. If you have coverage the Himalayan Rescue will transport you, if not, you may be lucky to get a horse and guide to get you out. While in the Himalayas, I saw many helicopters and met a good deal of people who were very ill. Best wishes to the MH Ross Team.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. In regards to emergency medical evacuation, the following is taken from the policy: A legally licensed Physician, in coordination with the Assistance Company, must order the Emergency Evacuation and must certify that the severity of Your Injury or Emergency Sickness warrants Your Emergency Evacuation to the closest adequate medical facility. It must be determined that such Emergency Evacuation is required due to the inadequacy of local facilities.

The certification and approval for Emergency Evacuation must be coordinated through the most direct and economical conveyance and route possible, such as air or land ambulance, or commercial airline carrier.

AIG Travel Guard Gold
I chose Travel Guard because, unlike most other competing policies on this site, Travel Guard does not require that the insurance company arrange emergency evacuation. In the event Travel Guard could not be contacted to arrange for emergency Transportation, benefits are limited to the amount the Insurer would have paid had the Insurer or their authorized representative been contacted. Competing policies apparently will pay nothing if a companion, tour leader, bystander or first responder calls for, say, helicopter evacuation without first calling an insurance company in America to do the arranging. I'd suspect the majority of real emergencies would likely fall in this category.

I did not have occasion to make a claim to Travel Guard for this 2014 Nepal trip, but I did make a claim with them when I was forced to cancel a Nepal trek last year due to a sudden hip joint deterioration. While I had to submit voluminous documentation of my claim, their requests were reasonable in my opinion and I got a check within approximately 10 days of their receipt of my completed claim. Thus the reason they were again my choice for this year's successful trek.

I am 64 and trekked the Annapurna Circuit in April 2014. I went with peace of mind as far as insurance/evacuation is concerned. Two years ago I did the Everest Base Camp Trek with this same company.

Once my paperwork was submitted, it was dealt with promptly and professionally. There was one issue which was handled immediately, and then I was paid. I would highly recommend this insurance. I was disappointed to have to cancel my trip, but at least I didn't lose money and have to pay for a trip I didn't take.
