I had a very positive experience when a skiing injury on our third day prevented my wife from skiing beyond the third day. We shortened our hotel stay and asked for reimbursement for the remaining days, the ski lift tickets, and the medical clinic visit. Upon providing proof of our expenses the insurance company promptly paid our claim. I highly recommend this company for quick and courteous response.

I have more piece of mind believing Travelex will be at my side if a problem occurs during my travels. I particularly like the assistance that would come, I would hope, if my flight was delayed more than 5 hours.

    Thank you for your comment. Travel Medical plans do not offer Travel Delay. If you had wished to purchase a plan providing that coverage, you would have had to purchase a Comprehensive plan.

We needed to come home earlier than planned because I was ill and needed to see my Dr. In Mpls. I was unaware that the insurance would not cover costs for changing airline ticket, partial rental of condo...because I did not seek medical treatment in Florida. I am being treated by my Dr. -after returning to Mpls. and have tests scheduled. I would not have taken out the insurance, had I known this limitation. It should be brought up when talking to someone from your company about a policy initially. I called after returning home and was told I wouldn't be covered because I didn't see a Dr in Florida.

    For all of the Comprehensive travel insurance plans offered on our website, the insured person must see a physician during the trip due to an unforeseen, accidental injury or emergency illness, and secure a note certifying that they must interrupt their trip in order to have a payable Trip Interruption claim.

    We advise that customers call the insurance provider immediately after an event occurs in an effort to prevent potential claim issues.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
Unsure at this point as to whether I would recommend plan or not--we'll see how they handle our claim; weather canceled our fight and the next available flight w/ seats was 24 hrs. later; because other flights left the airport later in the day, the airport was classified as not being "closed" and thus trip interruption was not declared--only trip delay. I was, and still am hoping that the first night's lodging at our destination which was pre-paid would be covered, but apparently only a new room at the delayed location is considered a covered, reimbursable expense. As we went back home, Nationwide is claiming no coverage for the night's lodging of our "delay" that we had pre-paid. I understand the legalese of contract terms, but it seems to me that trip insurance is taken out to protect the pre-paid expenses. We'll see if they will cover the dinner we had out as we had no food in the house. Fortunately, the other plans we had for the day/night we couldn't get to our destination were either rescheduled for the next day, or cancelled without penalty. I shudder to think based upon what Nationwide told me about our lodging, what might have happened if we had decided to go to one of the newer high-end restaurants that insist upon pre-payment in advance and no refunds if you don't show for the meal.

    Unfortunately, your claim did not fall under the terms and conditions of the Trip Interruption benefit, and as a result the pre-paid expenses could not be reimbursed. However, the maximum Travel Delay benefit was paid to reimburse the.reasonable additional expenses.
