Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
Unsure at this point as to whether I would recommend plan or not--we'll see how they handle our claim; weather canceled our fight and the next available flight w/ seats was 24 hrs. later; because other flights left the airport later in the day, the airport was classified as not being "closed" and thus trip interruption was not declared--only trip delay. I was, and still am hoping that the first night's lodging at our destination which was pre-paid would be covered, but apparently only a new room at the delayed location is considered a covered, reimbursable expense. As we went back home, Nationwide is claiming no coverage for the night's lodging of our "delay" that we had pre-paid. I understand the legalese of contract terms, but it seems to me that trip insurance is taken out to protect the pre-paid expenses. We'll see if they will cover the dinner we had out as we had no food in the house. Fortunately, the other plans we had for the day/night we couldn't get to our destination were either rescheduled for the next day, or cancelled without penalty. I shudder to think based upon what Nationwide told me about our lodging, what might have happened if we had decided to go to one of the newer high-end restaurants that insist upon pre-payment in advance and no refunds if you don't show for the meal.

    Unfortunately, your claim did not fall under the terms and conditions of the Trip Interruption benefit, and as a result the pre-paid expenses could not be reimbursed. However, the maximum Travel Delay benefit was paid to reimburse the.reasonable additional expenses.

Our return from a skiing trip to Big Sky Montana was delayed for three days by winter storm Jonas. When we were notified of our flight cancellation, I immediately called the toll free claims number. The rep I spoke with was very polite and issued a claim number and emailed me a claim form. As requested, I kept receipts for my extra nights in the hotel and food for the delay days. After three days we were able to get a return flight home. Within three days I filed a claim. Within three weeks of filing my claim, I received payment in full for my extra hotel and food costs during my travel delay. I could not be more pleased!!

Due to a major change in flight schedule by Delta, I was granted a full cash refund of my ticket price. This occurred some 6 weeks prior to departure date. Was told by InsureMyTrip no refund.

    The following excerpt has been taken from the Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential policy certificate:

    "All premium is non-refundable after a ten (10) day review period from the date of purchase in the event You have not incurred any claims during that time."

April Travel Protection Choice
We were very pleased with the entire process! After comparing several company policies and prices, we decided April Insurance had the most choices for the best price!
The representative we worked with was excellent!! So friendly and helpful!
The entire process went so easily and smoothly!
We did not need to use the insurance (thank goodness), but we had peace of mind knowing it was there in case we needed it!

Thanks to the blizzard in the northeast and all flights home cancelled ,we had to stay in Disney World two extra nights. After calling CSA and hearing that we had coverage for trip extension,we were able to relax and make the best of it.The agent on the phone explained our coverage ,what we needed to have such as receipts for food, hotel, transportation and how to file when we returned home. The claim was easy to file and we were paid promptly for the hotel and meals we were not expecting to have until we could get back home.
