Travel Insured Worldwide Trip Protector Plus
The car hire companies in the UK do not accept the car rental insurance included in this plan. I had to purchase further coverage when I picked up the car.

    "Depending on location, there are several places that will require the traveler who is renting a car to take the insurance offered. Our rental car benefit can still be used cover deductibles, and anything above what the amount that the rental company will cover. We want to assure you that members of our Customer Care Department and are always readily available to our customers to answer any questions you may have, and they can be reached at 1-800-243-2440."

We were fortunate that we did not need to use the services, yet it gave peace of mind during our travels.
The price was also reasonable to cover three people and I will use the program again when traveling overseas.

Allianz Global Assistance Basic
The only defect with this plan is that it can't be altered once you leave the US, i.e. if during you trip you decide to make an extra excursion which adds to the sum originally insured. Is there any solution to this dilemma?

    Thank you for your inquiry. Trip Cancellation reimburses you for your prepaid out-of-pocket expenses should you cancel the trip for a covered reason so, if you do not go on the trip, you would not have the additional expense that would have been booked while you were on the trip. Likewise, if you were not feeling well while on the trip, then it is unlikely that you would book an excursion or other activity. Of course, we do agree that there are always incidents that may arise that would not be covered by any of the Comprehensive plans, so we will bring your comment to management's attention.

When I first looked into travel insurance, my main concern was travel disruption or delay. The agent did not tell me that the total coverage for travel delay was $250. I may have paid more for additional coverage if I would known this. Of course the policy states this if you read it carefully. While I filed the claim, it took over a week to get a response from my claim's adjuster. It wasn't until I threatened to call her supervisor that she called. And she called at exactly the time I asked her not to call. Then I filed the claim on 11/20. When I had not heard anything about the claim for over 2 1/2 weeks, I called the adjuster. She says: Oh, we just got your claim today. The company might never had received the claim if I hadn't called to check on it. What a coincidence that it arrived the day I called. The post office stated that it would be delivered on 11/23, two and 1/2 weeks earlier. It took another 12 days to process the claim. I was informed by e-mail that I would receive $250 for a claim of $400. Funny that the adjuster knew the amount I was requesting during the discussion of the claim and never mentioned the $250 policy limits. Overall, very poor customer service. For all purchasers, be sure to read the fine print to know what you are actually buying.

We have conducted a thorough investigation of your case and have concluded that your claim was delayed in processing due to a stall in mail delivery during the Thanksgiving holidays. However, once received your claim processed and paid within 2 weeks. We take pride in delivering a great customer experience and we regret that we were not able to meet your expectations in this case.”
