The insurance provided the assurance we needed that in the event of a reoccurrence of an previous health issue, we would have coverage. This allowed us to travel without worrying.

AIG Travel Guard Silver
Yes, with hesitation. After medical emergency, we had to go home. There were very responsive and continually checked on us. They did buy us tickets home, although the process was difficult because their first few proposals had terribly long travel and transfer plans and no way to put feet up, as doctor ordered. Finally, they came up with good connections and business class. They did reimburse medical expenses that our own policy did not and reimbursed lost deposits. The Doctor ordered rest before return, and they refused to cover hotel/food costs and taxi to airport for this, saying these things weren't medical expenses and also weren't covered expenses under the trip interruption part of the policy. This amounted to about $400-$500 that they refused to reimburse even though the expenses were caused by my husband's illness. The process of reimbursement took 4-1/2 months even though I promptly provided all of their documentation.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are pleased to learn that Travel Guard provided prompt and diligent travel assistance.

An InsureMyTrip Customer Advocate was assigned to seek reimbursement for the hotels, meals, and local transportation expenses as a result of the injury. Unfortunately, none of the benefits provided in the Travel Guard Silver plan would cover those expenses for the event that occurred.

Allianz Global Assistance Basic
When I developed a ringing sensation in my ears that persisted, I phoned to a representative asking for a referral for Medical help. The closest Doctor on your record was over an hour's drive away. I was told to go to any Doctor and pay for his services-for which I would receive reimbursement-after filing a claim with you.
The way the health system is set up there, they refused my travel insurance coverage AND they refused to see me even if I paid out-of-pocket. What I had did not warrant a visit to the Emergency Room.
In Summary: My travel insurance was useless for my Medical problem.

We were sorry to learn that you were inconvenienced during your trip. Of course, you took the proper steps in contacting the travel assistance company for a medical referral. According to your review, they gave you accurate information but the local health system refused to see you. Although we can certainly understand your decision to not seek treatment in an emergency room, you could have submitted those medical expenses to Allianz for reimbursement.

M.H. Ross Advantage Asset Plus
I filed a claim which took 5 months to get paid. I have accepted that the terrorism clause in the plan was worded poorly, and forced me to invoke the "Cancel for Any Reason" benefit of the plan, which only pays 75% of cancellation fees. The terrorism clause was worded such that the U.S. Government has to officially call the event an act terrorism. In Israel, there are things that occur that don't get officially designated by the U.S. State Department as terrorism. The cancellation for terrorism part of the plan was cleverly worded to leave a gap where some terrorist acts are not covered if they don't make the State Department radar. Now for the claim, although I sent in all the proper documentation, they were looking for a specific form of documentation from the airline on the cancellation fee, which was difficult to obtain. Eventually, I did get this resolved, and they did pay the claim.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We appreciate your business, and are pleased to learn that your claim was paid. We apologize on behalf of the claims administrator that your claim took five months to resolve.

The wording of Trip Cancellation for a Terrorist Attack can be confusing, but the coverage is worded similarly in the majority of plan certificates. In the future, please feel free to call us for clarification. Unfortunately, none of the comprehensive policies on our website cover trip cancellation for the previously referenced events.
We advise customers concerned about war (declared or undeclared), political or civil unrest to purchase the "Cancel For Any Reason" benefit. There are usually three conditions that must be met to purchase a "Cancel For Any Reason" policy: The policy needs to be purchased within 10-30 days after making the initial trip payment/deposit, the entire pre-paid and non-refundable trip cost needs to be insured, and the covered trip must be canceled more than 2 days prior to the departure date. The majority of "Cancel For Any Reason" policies will reimburse 75% of the trip cost, unless otherwise noted.

We encourage customers to call InsureMyTrip prior to purchasing travel insurance to ask questions about coverage and receive recommendations based their needs. InsureMyTrip is open 7 days a week at 800-487-4722.

We did not have to use it, but we are glad we purchased it. Others got hurt on the trip. I think one person had purchased the insurance and they were so glad they did.

Very happy to have had that plan....gave me confidence that if anything went awry, I would be covered.....and nearly had an episode that might have changed the outcome....I am thrilled you were recommended, and that I had the coverage for all potential scenarios...and thanks for the good service!

TravelSafe Classic
I did not need to use the plan but was glad to have it. My main concern was getting back home if I was injured or otherwise delayed while away, and I thought TravelSafe had the best plan of the ones that I looked at. Unfortunately TravelSafe will only evacuate you if the hospital at your travel destination cannot care for your needs - so I had to sign up for an additional plan that would evacuate me even if the local hospital was able to care for me. It would be nice if TravelSafe would add that evacuation option.

Thank you for your review. You bring up a great point about emergency medical evacuation coverage. Typically, when medically necessary, most insurance providers will take you to the closest hospital that can treat you and then to a hospital in your home city. Customer Service is available 7 days a week at 1-800-487-4722 to assist you with questions and to help you find a plan that best meets your needs.
