I have purchased a Travel Insured International plan for every big trip for the past several years but I’ve never had to file a claim. However with this latest trip, the airline canceled our flight home and couldn’t get us on another flight until two days later. The airline said they had so many people affected that they were not able to provide hotel or food vouchers. My wife and I were left with huge out of pocket expenses. I called the Travel Insured assistance line from the airport and told them what was happening. They looked up my plan, confirmed I’d be covered, and told me exactly what documentation they’d need from the airline and how to file a claim when I got home. When I got home I filed a claim online and submitted receipts for transportation, hotel, and meals during the time we were stuck. It took a few days to hear back and then I got an email saying it was approved and asking me to input my banking information for the electronic transfer. One day later, I had the full amount of the claim deposited into my account. Additionally, I’d like to say that everyone I spoke to on the phone was kind, friendly, helpful, and provided me all the info I needed to ensure a successful claim. Based on my experience, I will continue to use Travel Insured International for my future trips.

I did not have any issue with my trip so I never had the chance to use my insurance, which is a good thing! It was definitely reassuring that I had the coverage in case anything did happened while I was on National waters. I would purchase this type of coverage again due to the fact of just knowing it is there just in case. Thank you for your assistance.

We filed a claim for trip delay, but the maximum is $150 a day. I think this is a ridiculously low manximum. This didn't even pay for the hotel room for one night. The trip delay ended up costing us around $350 between hotel, food and taxi.

Never needed to use so just rated 3 of 5 on coverage. Price was competitive. NOTE: Be sure you look at the trip coverage provided by your credit card company just by charging expenses! I found out after purchasing this policy that I had about the same amount of coverage FREE from my credit card company just for using my card!

You may have noticed when quoting and selecting your Nationwide plan that you had more than 35 Comprehensive Plans to choose from ranging from a low premium of 188.82 USD for your Nationwide Essential policy to a much higher premium of 620.00 USD for our most expensive plan. Although Nationwide is an excellent company with very quick and efficient claim service, the Essential still provides only the most basic coverage in order to keep its price down.
Nationwide also offers a more expensive Prime plan offering higher limits and more covered reasons to cancel or interrupt your trip. For example, where your Essential plan only provided Travel Delay limited to 150 USD per day, 600 USD maximum, the Prime plan provides limits of 250 USD per day, 2500 USD maximum.
